Irish Championship kicks off today


The first major international poker tournament of the New Year will begin in Galway later today.

The Surinder Sunar, Benjamin Kang, Neil Channing, Marc Goodwon, John Kabbaj and many more.

Of special interest is Meath's Jay Renehan, who was crowned the winner of a special Irish Poker Championship. Recent EPT Barcelona runner-up and Galway casino owner Fintan Gavin finished second on the leaderboard.

There will also be 16 online qualifiers who won packages for the main event on The package was worth $5,000 including the $2,800 buy-in, $1,000 spending money and accommodation in a luxury hotel. A large contingent qualified for just $3.
