Instead of starting another online tournament series, PartyPoker has opted to create the Online Cash Game Championship.

The inaugural OCGC, which starts on April 5, will reward the biggest cash game winners on the site with a final table on May 7 and $250,000 up for grabs over the span of the promotion.

"We are very excited about this online poker first!" said a PartyPoker spokesman.

"Anyone can claim the crown - you don't have to be a regular at the high-stakes tables. It's a long, hard road to victory with $250,000, waiting to be won, the tables are sure to be packed this April. But, when the dust has settled, only the most skilful cash players will take the plaudits."

The OCGC will consist of seven progressive levels of cash game poker. At each level, players will need to play 400 hands a day with the most profitable players advancing towards the final table.

Players will need to opt into the promotion before the end of Level 1, which takes place in $.50/$1 No-Limit Hold'em from April 5-9.

PartyPoker will award cash prizes ranging from $50 Level 2 to $10,000 in Level 6.

The final table will also take place in a cash game format with the biggest winner over 500 hands taking home a prize of $40,000. Second takes $20,000 and third wins $10,000.
