PartyPoker Million could be just $1 away
By Sarah Polson
The PartyPoker Millions VI Cruise is set for May 3-10, and poker players can win their way into the event for as little as $1 at PartyPoker.
The eight-day cruise will sail from Venice, Italy, with stops in Greece, Turkey and Croatia before returning to Venice. During that time, the poker players will also be taking to the tables for an $8,200 buy-in No-Limit Texas Hold'em event that will be filmed for worldwide broadcast.
With its $1 million top prize, the tournament attracts some big names. Past winners include Kathy Liebert, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Michael Gracz and Mike Schneider.
The first PartyPoker Million cruise not only made history for being the first to offer a $1 million top prize, but it was also won by Kathy Liebert, marking the first $1 million tournament win by a woman.
"The PartyPoker.com Million has a lot of history and it is great to welcome it back in 2008," said a PartyPoker.com spokesman. "Securing a package for the original poker cruise would be a great way to round off 2007."
The qualifiers start for as little as $1, and players could potentially win a $12,000 prize package for the cruise if they make it to the main weekly $600+$40 event. A prize package will be given for every 20 entrants, and PartyPoker is guaranteeing that three packages will be won.
The prize packages include the buy-in plus $2,700 for accommodations and the cruise, plus $1,100 in spending money.
The cruise was shifted to the Mediterranean and changed to a No-Limit event, but there will be much the same to look forward to.
"Many of the old faces will be back," the PartyPoker spokesman said. "Mike Sexton will be host, Matt Savage and Dave Lamb are tournament directors and the highly respected CardPlayer Cruises team that includes Linda Johnson, Mark Tenner and Jan Fisher will be on board running the poker room."
Along with the 24/7 cardroom on board, the ship includes restaurants, bars, tennis courts, mini golf, pools, spas, discos, a cinema, shopping and more.
