PartyPoker Bounces Back with Strong First Quarter

PartyPoker managed to bump a trend and record significant growth in the first quarter of 2016, according to financial documents released by GVC.

It’s the first time in five years that PartyPoker has reported growth rather than decline. It’s even more impressive when you consider the online poker industry has been consolidating greatly over the few years.

The sudden boost has allowed PartyPoker to once again get a spot in the top five online poker sites when it comes to cash game traffic.

Focus on Rec Players Paying Off

The positive bump for PartyPoker did not occur without some significant changes to the site.

PartyPoker has been overhauled in the last five years to focus more heavily on attracting recreational players.

Among the numerous changes that PartyPoker has enacted over the last few years:

  • Anonymous tables
  • Got rid of withdrawal fees
  • Signed ambassador Patrick Leonard
  • Re-launched in 21 markets
  • Launched jackpot-style Sit & Go Hero
  • Decreased the number of multi-entry MTTs

PartyPoker also brought back the ultra popular PowerFest online poker series. This year’s edition will have an enormous $7.8 million in guaranteed prize pools.

PowerFest, which kicks off May 1, features 172 separate tournaments spread across three different buy-in levels including lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight.
