PartyGaming sets odds for World Open V

J.C. Tran
Will J.C. Tran add another victory at the PartyPoker World Open V?

Online whiz Tom Dwan and tournament crusher J.C. Tran are the odds on favorites at 12:1 while red-hot Yevgeniy Timoshenko and poker veteran Layne Flack are close behind at 14:1.

Dwan, in particular, is an interesting choice because he's known more for his cash game prowess than his tournament abilities.

The tournament, which takes place in London, is similar to a shootout event with winners from the preliminary round qualifying for the final table.

There is also a second chance heat for players who finish runner up in the preliminary round. The winner of the second chance heat gets the last seat at the final table.

Brits Roland De Wolfe and James Akenhead were also given a good chance by odds-makers at 14:1.

Dwan's arch-nemesis Luke "FullFlash" Schwartz came in at 15:1, as did PartyPoker ambassador Mike Sexton. Phil Laak, Steve Sung and Andy Ward were also in the upper-tier at 18:1.

Other notables include Roberto Rommanello at 26:1, Sammy "AnyTwo" George at 40:1 and actress Jennifer Tilly at 67:1. To view the complete list of odds visit the official PartyBets website here.

Last year Irishman Marty Smyth outlasted 71 players and then beat Neil Channing heads-up to take first place and $250,000 at the World Open IV.

PartyBets has Smyth at 15:1 to repeat as champion.
