Anurag Dikshit, co-founder of PartyGaming Plc., owner of PartyPoker.com, has made his debut at number three on this year's annual Asian Rich List, a ranking of the top 300 richest men from Asia. Dikshit was also included in Forbes Magazine's prestigious Richest People in the World List this year, where he placed 207 out of 793 billionaires.
Ranked as one of the world's youngest billionaires with a £1.7 billion ($3.3 billion) fortune, the 34-year-old former software developer and graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi amassed his fortune together with PartyGaming co-founder, Ruth Parasol, a California native.
When PartyGaming was launched in 1998, Dikshit was a 25-year-old computer engineer working as a software developer for American computer companies. Parasol, who financed the company with millions of hew own dollars, considered Dikshit's skills to be crucial to the success of PartyGaming and offered him shares worth 32%.
PartyGaming launched for £4.6 billion on the London Stock Exchange last summer, the biggest floatation of a British company in five years.
PartyGaming's marketing director, Vikrant Bhargava, is ranked seventh on the Asian Rich List with a fortune of £592 million.
