The second place winner of the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship, David Matthew, was a player who won his seat in a $25 satellite event online at the poker room, it was announced today. Matthew received a whopping $1,903,950 for his second place finish.

Matthew, who is known as "ATMKing" because he is president of a Toronto-based ATM company, began playing poker in February 2004 and shifted his focus to online poker at in September of that year so he could play at his own convenience.

His recent satellite win earned him a trip to play with the world's best players, including Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Phil Ivey.

"I was honored to play with these players. Everywhere I looked there were faces I had seen on TV," said Matthew. "I approached the tournament in a businesslike manner. My initial goal was to win $46,000, but as I advanced round after round I readjusted my expectations, and by the end I was going for it all!"

With his winnings, Matthew plans to pay off some debts and begin a career as a professional poker player.
