Paddy Power Poker announced the details of the Irish Winter Festival this week, which the poker site will be hosting satellites for. It also launched the Back That Ace Up promotion, giving poker players even more ways to win cash and prizes.
"Our vision for the Irish Winter Festival has always been that of affordable poker tournaments allowing for lots of play and offering some seriously chunky prizepools", said Paddy Power, communications manager for Paddy Power Poker.
"The tournament structure for the Irish Masters is one that players will love, with a big starting stack and hour-long blinds. With so many chips at each player's disposal, we expect a lot of cunning play; losing one big pot won't necessarily mean a player will be in too much trouble!"
The Irish Masters is the main event of the Irish Winter Festival. The festival will run Oct. 24-27, starting with a satellite into the Irish Masters, and then three days of the Irish Masters with two other events sprinkled in.
The Irish Masters will have a €1,650 buy-in, which will give players a $10,000 starting stack. The blind levels will be 60 minutes, similar to the structure of the Irish Open main event that took place in March.
The festival is taking place at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, and the Irish Masters event will have an 800-person limit and an estimated €1 million prize pool.
Paddy Power Poker is offering weekly satellites in which players can win prize packages for the Irish Masters. The $200+$15 satellites take place each Sunday at 8 p.m. on the poker site. Players can also win their way into the weekly satellites for as little as 60¢.
The poker site also launched the Back That Ace Up promotion on Thursday, which will be giving away seats worth more than $38,000 in cash as well as a shot at Irish Winter Festival seats.
For the next eight weeks, Paddy Power Poker will host a rake race for its Back That Ace Up promotion with the top 10 players in each level of play earning cash prizes each week. The table-stakes categories are: 1¢/2¢ to 50¢/$1, $1/$2 to $2/$4, and $3/$6 or higher.
All raked hands played on Paddy Power Poker cash tables will count toward the weekly leaderboards.
While the top 10 in the leaderboards earn some extra cash for their efforts, poker players who end up in 11th through 25th in the 1¢/2¢ to 50¢/$1 and $1/$2 to $2/$4 categories will receive a token to play in a $6 Irish Winter Festival feeder satellite.
"We think all poker players, both male and female, can appreciate a great rear, so we've combined our twin loves of giving away money and ogling a fine booty in Back That Ace Up", Paddy Power said.
"We've got over $38,000 up for grabs, so combined with our new & improved VIP program, it's definitely a good time for players to play on Paddy Power Poker!"
