It stands to reason that a gaming site like 888.com might be doing something special on Friday, which just happens to be 08/08/08. As it turns out, "special" is an understatement.

There will be a total of four lucky offers for 888.com Pacific Poker starting on Aug. 7 and culminating on Aug. 10 in the 888.com $88,888 guaranteed tournament. The first offer takes place on Aug. 8 and will give any player with 88 frequent player points the chance to win a seat into the 888.com Poker Open V, which takes place Oct. 27-Nov. 7.

The winner will receive an $8,500 package to the prestigious tournament in Maidstone, England.

Lucky offer number two will see 88 branded poker chip sets given away in addition to eight seats to the $88,888 guaranteed tournament on Sunday. Satellites to the chip set giveaways will take place on Aug. 7.

Offer number three will feature an incredible eight surprise tournaments on Aug. 8 for the modest price of 88¢+8¢ each. Each tournament will be called an $88,888 Satellite Special, and will guarantee at least one seat straight into the $88,888 guaranteed tournament. The tournaments will show up in the lobby one hour before starting.

Finally on Sunday it all comes to a head with the $88,888 guaranteed tournament. Not only will the people at 888.com be increasing the guarantee on the regular $80,000 guaranteed tournament, but the buy-in will actually be decreased - to $88+$8 from the usual $120+$12.
