Orpe cashes in second sponsored event

Michelle Orpe

Well known as a presenter on Sky Poker, Michelle Orpe was recently picked up by Purple Lounge to represent the site at live poker tournaments. It turned out to be a good move by the poker site, as she made the final table of the European Ladies Championship.

Orpe is best known for her role as a presenter on the U.K. Internet poker show Poker Night Live. She's also worked in news capacities for numerous poker media outlets in addition to working as a celebrity dealer.

After working on the outside of the game looking in, Orpe is now getting more into playing poker as well. She's played in a few European Poker Tour events and now as a sponsored Purple Lounge player she'll be taking in live tournaments all around the world.

Her most recent accomplishment was to make the final of the European Ladies Poker Championship in London on May 4.

More than 50 women from across Europe headed to London for the event, including World Series of Poker Europe winner Annette Obrestad.

"I am a newly sponsored player at Purple Lounge and this is only my second tournament; to cash at all is amazing and a great achievement," Orpe said.

"Liv Boeree went on to win it. She found KK against JJ just before I went out and doubled through so was in great shape, but this event has given me the confidence to realize that I can do even better at events to come."

Orpe was the first person eliminated from the final table, going out in 10th place and earning $2,000 cash.

She will be taking her newfound confidence on the road to the World Poker Showdown Ocean World event in the Dominican Republic starting May 9. Then Orpe will be heading to Las Vegas to take on the World Series of Poker.
