One buck at Bodog.com could get you to a WPT event
By Sarah Polson
Along with the New Year comes the second half of Season 5 of the World Poker Tour. If you're not prepared to shell out thousands of dollars to get in on the events, you can win your way to two of them through Bodog.com.
For as little as $1, players at Bodog.com can win their way up through qualifying tournaments to get a seat at two different remaining WPT Season 5 events.
The first event is the WPT L.A. Poker Classic taking place at the Commerce Casino Feb. 24 through March 1. The buy-in for the main event is $10,000. The second event will be the $25,000 buy-in WPT World Championship at the Bellagion April 21-27.
Qualifiers cost $1, $1.50 and $5+50¢ to play in, with one player for every $9 in the prize pool winning an entry into any WPT Quarterfinal tournament.
The buy-ins for the tournaments can be made with tournament credits or real money. All of the qualifiers pay out in tournament credits.
If your pockets are a little deeper and you want to skip the first round of qualifiers, the daily quarterfinal events have a direct buy-in of $27+$2. One player for every 10 that enter will win enough Tournament Credits to buy into a WPT Semifinal tournament.
Another way into the WPT semifinal qualifiers is through a Turbo WPT qualifier. They cost $7+50¢, but it'll be much more challenging to get a seat. One seat is guaranteed and one will be added for every $270 in the prize pool.
If you don't win your way into it, a semifinal tournament will cost you a buy-in of $250+$20. The first prize package to a WPT event is guaranteed with another added for every $12,000 in the prize pool.
Each prize package will contain the buy-in for the WPT event and a travel allowance.
Qualifiers are currently running for the L.A. Poker Classic event with the semifinal qualifiers scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:15 p.m. (EST).
