One billionth hand equals WSOP seats at Ladbrokes
By Sarah Polson
The billionth hand is fast approaching at Ladbrokes Poker, so poker fans may want to hurry up and try to get in on the fun.
To celebrate the milestone hand, Ladbrokes plans to host a Billionth Hand Freeroll that will award $300,000 in World Series of Poker prizes.
To take part in the tournament, players need to earn 50 Player Points in cash games, multi-table tournaments or single-table tournaments on the day the billionth hand is dealt. Making those 50 points is as easy as raking $2 on a Fixed-Limit table, or paying $2.50 in tournament fees.
The top 20 players in the freeroll will be given $14,000 Ladbrokes WSOP prize packages. The packages include the buy-in for the Main Event plus money for travel, accommodations and more.
Two hundred players after the top 20 will also get a second chance to join Team Ladbrokes in Las Vegas for the WSOP Main Event. They'll receive a seat in the $109 Ladbrokes WSOP Daily Final.
"We knew that the billionth hand would be dealt in June, although the increased activity on the site since announcing the freeroll ensured that it was dealt earlier than we had originally anticipated!" said Edward Ihre, MD of Ladbrokes Poker.
"I'm hoping the freeroll generates the ultimate winner of the Main Event; now that would be a story, cutting through two fields of 6,000+ players. If they succeed in making the final table at the Main Event they'd also collect the bonus of up to $1,000,000 we're offering players who represent Ladbrokes at the Main Event."
Ladbrokes Poker plans to take more than 100 players to Las Vegas for the 2008 World Series of Poker. The poker site will also be hosting its own welcome party for the players at the Voodoo Lounge on July 3.
