Ohhhh yeah! Canadians rumble for WWE package
Poker players have a chance to put the smackdown on their fellow players and win a Trip to WWE WrestleMania XXV at UltimateBet.
The online poker site is hosting freerolls for Canadian players to work their way up to a tournament that will send the winner and a friend to the WrestleMania in Texas.
UltimateBet is the official sponsor of the WWE's 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania in Canada. As such it has launched a series of free online poker tournaments that will have one Canadian player winning the ultimate WrestleMania package.
That package includes:
- Two tickets to WWE's 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania® at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, April 5
- Round trip airfare to Houston, Texas for two
- Three nights' hotel accommodations for two
- $500 spending money
- Meet-and-greet with a WWE Superstar in Houston
- Two replica WWE Championships
- One framed WWE 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania poster
- Two WWE® 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania chairs
"This sounds like a great prize package. I'm bummed that I'm not a Canadian, and am ineligible for the contest," said Ronny Sarnecky, The Piledriver Report author at 411mania.com.
"I've gone to a few Manias, and every prize you are offering as part of the package is everything that you would need on a WrestleMania trip."
Sarnecky isn't the only WWE fan disappointed not to be Canadian. Josh Nason, writer of Ropesringandcage.com, was also wishing he was Canadian.
"Overall, I think that sounds like one of the most all-inclusive WWE packages I have seen in quite some time," Nason said.
The prize package is definitely worth playing for if you're a pro wrestling fan, and WrestleMania XXV is an event fans aren't going to want to miss.
"There's a reason why this is the biggest show of the year for WWE," Nason said. "Between the talent paired for the matches, what it signifies in the industry and the financial boom to the host city, this event is a major draw across the board."
Sarnecky said that he is intrigued by what WrestleMania will bring this year.
"The buildup has been great, and the matches should follow suit," he said. "While I would LOVE to see a Hogan vs. Austin dream match, I would settle for Hogan just being on the card. After all, he started it all and deserves a spot."
The WWE has so far kept the fight card for the night under wraps. However, Mauro Ranallo, a Canadian pro wrestling fan and on-air talent for Thefightnetwork.com, expects the matchups to include:
- Triple H vs. Randy Orton
- Edge vs. John Cena
- Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy
- Chris Jericho involved with Mickey Rourke
- Money in the Bank match
"While none of these are official, that's the direction it seems WWE is headed in," Ranallo said.
"For the 25th anniversary of the 'granddaddy' of them all, there isn't that real special match that really sticks out, but being at Reliant Stadium should add to the spectacle and appearances by Hall of Fame inductees Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, the Von Erichs and Bill Watts will add to the nostalgia flavor."
To be a part of this historic WWE event, Canadians just need to play in the free poker tournaments being held twice daily during the week at UltimateBet. They are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
The top 100 players in each daily tournament will earn a spot in the following Sunday's online poker satellite taking place at 8:30 p.m. ET. From the Sunday tournaments, the top 200 players will move on to a spot in the final online poker main event scheduled for March 16 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The last man standing in the main event will win the WrestleMania package.
The WWE® 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania promotion is only open to residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who are 18 years of age or older.
