Odds on pro to win Irish Poker Championship

Can Beevers best the Irish field?
By Sarah Polson
The Irish Poker Championship is scheduled to take place Jan. 4-6 in Galway, Ireland. At least one site is placing odds on who's going to take down the PartyPoker-sponsored tournament.
"Early money has come for Joe Beevers and Julian Gardner, but that's no surprise considering both made the final of the Poker Million and are seen to be in form," said a spokesman for PartyBets.com.
"Others seen as frontrunners by the bookmakers include Bruno Fitoussi, Roy Brindley and Marcel Luske."
The Irish Poker Championship is the first major sponsorship in Ireland by Party Poker. It will play at the Radisson Hotel and Spa and plenty of big-name poker players are expected to attend.
The pros who've indicated they'll attend include:
- Mike Sexton
- Noel Furlong
- Marcel Luske
- Ciaran O'Leary
- Michael Keiner
- Padraig Parkinson
- Robert Williamson III
- Jon Kalmar
- Bruno Fitoussi
- Jan Sorensen
- Roy Brindley
- Joe Beevers
- Julian Gardner
- Katharine Hartree
- Steve Wong
"Those with names and reputations in the poker world are bound to attract interest but we are certainly looking out for movers in the market from the big pool of local players and top online qualifiers," said the spokesman from PartyBets.
Players will put up a €2,000 buy-in and play for a prize pool expected to be between €500,000 and €1 million. The tournament will also be recorded for six, hour-long broadcasts on Ireland's RTE as well as being distributed internationally.
