Obrestad Gets First Taste of Main Event

In 2008, Annette Obrestad shocked the poker world by winning the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event and becoming the youngest winner in WSOP history.

Since then she's had to wait nearly three years to experience the original North American version of the tournament that made her a household name.

Today that wait ended.

Obrestad took her seat at the ESPN secondary feature table and the crowd gave her a hearty round of applause.

It's been a rollercoaster four levels so far for Obrestad as she currently sits on about 20,000 and will likely need a double up in short order to see Day 2.

The 2010 World Series of Poker, in general, has been bittersweet for Obrestad who has cashed four times but only earned $41,494.

She narrowly missed out on a final table in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout event where she placed 11th.

There are a number of players who would be happy with those kind of results, but we're guessing Obrestad is not.

Of course a deep run in the Main Event would likely help erase any bad thoughts she has had about the WSOP.
