NHL players face off at PartyPoker.com charity tournament today
Tie Domi might be a tough guy on the ice, but how about at the poker felt? Today hockey and Hold'em fans will tune in to TSN to see their favorite NHL stars face off at the poker table for charity.
The tournament pits hockey stars such as New Jersey Devil's goaltender Martin Brodeur, Bryan McCabe of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Simon Gagne of the Philadelphia Flyers against each other in a seven-part, 60-minute televised Texas Hold'em tournament sponsored by PartyPoker.com.
The program airs today at 1 p.m. ET on TSN, which will carry the series until the final table episode on Dec. 30.
If the event wasn't fun enough just for checking out the trash-talking athletes, the ParyPoker.com Charity Faceoff will donate $100,000 to various causes, including the NHL Player Association's Goals and Dreams fund.
The final table champ will see $20,000 for to his personal charity, while the runner-up's charity earns $10,000. All other players get $5,000 for causes of their choice.
The series was filmed in August prior to the NHL training camp.
