No setup this time: Antonius takes $438k pot

Antonius: I must break you.

It hasn't been much of a WSOP for Finnish super-pro Patrik Antonius so far, with just two early cashes and one final table to his credit.

On the upside, though: his open challenge to the best players in online poker is working out pretty well.

Suggesting some of the biggest winners online over the past few months were "afraid to play anybody good," Antonius threw the gauntlet down in his personal blog in early June with a big-league callout:

"I have not played Heads Up No Limit on Full Tilt for a long time and have hardly any experience playing it compared to these guys, yet, they refuse to play me and are dodging me in all games.

"Durrr, OMGClayAiken, trex313, Urindanger, I am looking for action and I want a chance to play against the best. I will play any of you in any game on Full Tilt, I will be waiting, hopefully your [sic] up for the challenge."

One player who has definitely stepped up: Jay "pr1nnyraid" Rosenkrantz - a regular nosebleed-stakes player and notorious winner of the "largest pot" in the history of online poker just last week.

The two have jockeyed back and forth in some smaller sessions over the month but definitely got to the real deal yesterday, stepping up for a major deep-stack session at the new $500/$1,000 RailHeaven table on Full Tilt.

Things definitely went Antonius' way this time though, as he worked his stack up to over $500k by the time the session was over and raked in the third-biggest pot won online so far in 2008 worth $438k.
