New team line-up for PKR

Big stacks are good

PKR officially announced this week the collection of pros it has brought together on Team PKR Pro.

This season, the team will include Ashley Hames, Andrew Teng, Kai Danilo Paulsen, Raymond O'Mahoney, James Sudworth and Henrik Eklund.

"We've been following our initial 'Team PKR Pro' members for some time and are convinced that they all have the game and personality required to be genuinely world-class poker players," said Simon Prodger, PKR marketing director.

"They are also among the most recognised and respected players within the PKR community so are guaranteed to have over two and a half million people cheering them on every time they play."

Hames is a PKR TV commentator and brings a little star power to the team as a TV presenter and writer.

He is most well-known for his series Sin Cities, but Hames has been a regular at poker tables in the United Kingdom since 2000. He has played in the World Series of Poker Main Event, reached a final table of Celebrity Poker Club and even played on the TV table at this year's Irish Open.

Sudworth and Teng are also U.K. residents on the PKR team. Sudworth is already a familiar face on the U.K. poker circuit where he has a second-place finish in the Brighton leg of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour.

According to PKR, Sudworth has been a regular on the site as "James666" since joining the site two months after its launch in 2006. He is known for his fearless aggression online and has been successfully transferring his game to the live arena as well.

Teng has been playing poker seriously for just the past two years, but that has translated to two cashes in the 2008 WSOP as well as a 126th-place finish in the Main Event. Teng won his first event in October 2008 when he took down the Thanet leg of the GUKPT.

Known as "Golfpro699" on PKR, Teng is a regular in the 2+2 poker community and is considered a successful high-stakes pro.

O'Mahoney brings some Irish flare to the PKR Team. As "callmebabe," he's been a regular fixture in PKR's biggest cash games and tournaments. His live game experience includes a fourth-place finish in the PKR Live $500 Main Event, and he hopes to someday take down the Irish Open.

There are also a couple of Scandinavian members of Team PKR Pro. Paulsen hails from Trondheim, Norway, and Eklund is from Stockholm, Sweden.

Paulsen already has the best live tournament record of any PKR player to date. He has more than $322,000 in offline earnings, including chases at the WSOP and a fifth-place finish at the 2008 Irish Open.

Eklund has been a regular at PKR's highest cash tables since April 2007, and he started making an impact in the live poker scene in 2008 at the inaugural PKR Live and then a victory at the Asian Poker Tour Manila Headhunter side event.

All these players are looking for a major event win, and PKR says it has confidence that they've got the game to do it.

As part of Team PKR Pro, these players will represent the poker site at major live poker events around the world as well as play on PKR in cash games and bounty tournaments.
