A new poker book discussing the lives and games of the United Kingdom's top poker pros is set to hit the poker literature market this June.
Written by Des Wilson, "Swimming With The Devilfish - Under The Surface Of Professional Poker" is the first-ever poker book to deal exclusively with British poker pros. Players featured include Dave "Devilfish" Ulliot, Dave Colclough, Willie Tann, and members of the Hendon Mob, among others.
Wilson spent more than half a year trailing the various subjects of his book around the European poker circuit and to the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. He has compiled in-depth profiles on 30-plus pros as well as an exclusive, 20,000-word biography on the Devilfish.
Topics discussed in "Swimming With The Devilfish" include life on the tournament circuit, the high-stakes cash game world of the U.K.'s top casino venues, and the rise of poker in Britain.
Wilson also analyzes the ongoing battle between poker's old time pros and the young guns of today.
Advanced readers of the book have responded with tremendous enthusiasm.
John Duthie, director of the European Poker Tour (EPT), describes it as "a wonderful insight into the multi-layered life of the professional poker player," while top Irish player and tournament director Liam Flood says "it is the best book on British poker ever written."
"Swimming With The Devilfish" will be released by Macmillan Publishing on June 16. The book will be available for purchase in bookstores and from Internet retailers.
