Nevada State Poker Championships set for September

Reno Represent!

There are thousands of poker players in Nevada, and starting Sept. 25, every one of them will get a chance to "Take on the State" in the first annual State of Nevada Championship Poker event at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.

There will be a total of 32 events with a selection of poker variants including State Championships in Limit, H.O.R.S.E., Omaha 8, Stud 8, Pot-Limit Omaha, Six-Handed and of course good old-fashioned No-Limit Hold'em.

The poker series will be available to players with all sizes of bankrolls, with buy-ins varying from $125 to $1,000 for the two-day No-Limit Hold'em State Championship. Women won't be left out of the mix either, with a $200 Ladies State Championship held as part of the LIPS Tour.

In addition, every state champion will receive a cruise for two to Mexico. The cruise will depart in November from San Diego, Calif.

With the recent void left in the Reno tournament scene as a result of the World Poker Tour eliminating the World Poker Challenge from its schedule, the Nevada State Poker Championships could be the perfect fix for poker players in Reno.

Players will also get a special rate at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, which features premier dining and entertainment options, and of course the largest casino in northern Nevada.
