NBC to launch new poker video game
By Sarah Polson
For those of you who want to live the fantasy of being a part of a major poker tournament, now there's a new video game that can help you do just that. NBC is releasing a video game version of its popular televised tournament, the Heads-Up Poker Championship.
In a partnership between NBC and 5000ft Inc., the tournament has been reproduced in a 3-D format that will place players in the tournament with 63 varied and intelligent computer opponents to battle it out.
Players will have to make their way through heads-up matches to continue on in the playing brackets and try to win the tournament.
"The 5000ft Inc. team has created a game capturing the true vision we wanted to complement our televised tournament," said Jon Miller, NBC Sports executive vice president.
He added that NBC believes the game will resonate very well with its viewers.
"Teaming up with NBC was a dream come true, and we feel the union has produced an interactive companion that captures all the action, excitement and complexity of the championship itself," said Ian Grieve, 5000ft Inc. CEO.
The video game will debut Saturday and will be available for purchase at NBCHeadsUp.com.
