NBA's Dickau teams up in customized poker chip company

By Erin Warner

NBA star Dan Dickau is hoping Hold'em fans will personalize their play with his new business venture - a customized poker chip lab.

The Portland Trail Blazers point guard teamed up with a family friend to create TheChipLab.com, an e-business that lets customers design their own poker chips.

The design is entirely up to the individual, with the Web site providing the software and sample blueprints. Anything goes, including photographs, catch phrases in different fonts or company logos.

The chips cost about 99¢ each and usually ship within two weeks. The site also offers the option to customize complete sets for about $280.

Though company co-founder Chase Schwatka approached Dickau with the idea, the hoops star is no newbie to the felt.

While playing for Boston, Dickau said he and his teammates - usually Paul Pierce, Ricky Davis, Brian Scalabrine, Ryan Gomes and Kendrick Perkins - would arrange in-flight No-Limit Hold'em games while on the road.

Now playing for Portland, Dickau is going to have get his poker fix via his business: No one on the Trail Blazers plays cards.
