NASCAR drivers and fans Hold'em for charity

By Christopher Hunt

As a lead-in to NASCAR's Auto Club 500 at the California Speedway, Green Flag Racing is hosting a charity poker tournament for drivers and fans, with a portion of the proceeds to go to the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation.

Rotolo Chevrolet in Fontana, Calif., is the lucky host of the event, from Feb. 21-22, with Green Light Racing's NASCAR Craftsman Truck team and driver Chad McCumbee, the 2006 runner-up for the NCTS Rookie of the Year, the featured players.

A portion of the tournament's proceeds will support the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, an organization founded by the former Daytona 500 champion to promote awareness for wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement.

Green Flag will continue to host charity poker tournaments for the rest of the year as well, with one for each event in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for 2007.

And as an added bonus, winners from each race will eventually head to Las Vegas for a Texas Hold'em showdown for a sponsorship to the 2008 World Series of Poker.
