NAPP Tour, Inc., creator of the International Poker Association and owner of the North American Poker Tour (NAPP), will be sponsoring the VH1 Classic Rock-N-Roll Celebrity Poker Tournament, the first televised poker contest to feature music artists. The event will be hosted by poker pro Phil Laak, and will bring together six well-known musical performers from ZZ Top, the Go Go's, Pantera, and Godsmack, to benefit charity.
Musicians Dusty Hill, Jane Wiedlin, Vinnie Paul, and Sully Erna, among others, will be competing for a prize pool to be donated to the charity of their choice. In addition, the winner will be given the chance to take over VH1 Classic for an entire day, programming all of that day's music videos and serving as on-air host. The winner will also receive a seat in the $10,000 NAPP Invitational at Hollywood Park in September, 2006.
The VH1 Classic Rock-n-Roll Celebrity Poker Tournament will be filmed at Harrah's Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will premiere in June, 2006, on VH1 Classic.
"We're proud that VH1 Classic will air the first rock and roll poker tournament on television and are excited to partner with the North American Poker Tour…on this event," said Eric Sherman, Senior Vice President, General Manager, VH1 Classic. "The tournament is part of our mission to deliver entertaining, original programming that celebrates our favorite music artists."
