After surviving a final table with such accomplished players as Vanessa Selbst and Van Nguyen, Nancy Todd Tyner defeated Selbst heads-up for the WPT Ladies Championship win.

Todd Tyner displayed consummate patience during heads-up, taking her time and picking her spots wisely to take Selbst down.

She had wrangled her seat in the WPT event by winning a ladies-only satellite at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

In a post-win interview Todd Tyner discussed her experience of heads-up play and mentioned how much she respects previous WPT winner Selbst. Although Todd Tyner's rather new to the game compared to lots of the tour pros, she played like an old pro, without getting overwhelmed by the final-table aggression.

Vanessa Selbst: runner-up.

Todd Tyner attributes her ability to deal with the pressure of a WPT final table with her background in political campaigning.

She's been part of 196 political campaigns in six countries, and her candidates won 98% of all of them, even though she was backing the underdog in the majority of them.

Todd Tyner put that experience to work at the WPT Ladies final table to defeat one of the most feared pros in the game. In doing so, she proved that anyone with the ability to keep their cool and play their best game in a stressful situation against the odds can end up on top. Odds are this won't be the last time we see Nancy Todd Tyner at a final table.
