MSNBC online poll shows public wants to gamble online
MSNBC posted a poll on its Web site Wednesday for people to give their opinion about an online gambling ban. Nearly 4,000 people had cast their vote by mid-afternoon of the second day of the survey with an overwhelming majority condemning an online gambling ban.
The survey asked "Should Online Gambling Be Illegal?" Those who participated in the poll were given three options for answers:
- Yes, Internet gambling fuels betting addictions.
- No, people should have the freedom to wager any way they choose.
- It doesn't matter what Congress passes, there will always be ways to gamble online.
After 3,854 responses by this afternoon, 93% had voted against an online gambling ban, while 4.3% believed it didn't matter, and 2.5% voted for the online gambling ban.
The MSNBC poll isn't a scientific sample of the national opinion. Because people choose to participate instead of being chosen at random for the survey, it is meant to be an interactive dialogue so people have some place to voice their opinion.
