Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond’s luck in Canada finally seems to be wearing off as he lost $65k on PokerStars last night.

Galfond put in 2,030 hands of $50/$100 Pot-Limit Omaha switching between Six-Max and Heads-Up.

The former Maryland-native simply couldn’t get anything going last night and took beatings on almost every table he pulled up.

Despite his losses, Galfond still managed to put the hurt on a reeling Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies in the later stages of the night.

Although the session was technically played entirely in $50/$100 PLO, the pair decided to up the ante by artificially raising the stakes to $300/$900 for several hands.

It would lead to Sahamies undoing as the Finn lost $58k in just eight hands.

Since moving to Canada nearly two months ago to play online poker, Galfond has won more than half a million dollars.

Meanwhile Sahamies continues to crash and burn after peaking with $1 million in profit last week. Since then Sahamies has donated it all back and is now down nearly $400k on PokerStars this year.

It could have been worse for Sahamies last night as he managed to finally escape with only $44k in losses.

It wasn’t the busiest day for online action yesterday but Richard “nutsinho” Lyndaker still managed to take down $140k to become the evening’s biggest winner. It was a huge step for Lyndaker as he’s currently down over $250k on PokerStars this year.

Some of the other big winners last night included M@d@M@d@D@ne (+$58k), Ben86 (+$34k) and JP Kelly (+$30k).

Galfond was the biggest loser but Lotte Lenya (-$58k), machado28 (-$44k) and stormi22 (-$38k) were also in consideration for the title as well.
