Sorel Mizzi has won the 2011 WPT Grand Prix de Paris High Roller event, beating Freddy Deeb heads-up to take back the title Deeb took from him one year before.

With 36 runners and a €15,000 buy-in, the 2011 WPT Paris High Roller event at the Aviation Club de France built a €521,100 prize pool with €234,495 reserved for the winner.

In a fairly remarkable twist, heads-up play came down to Mizzi and Deeb again - the exact same two who made it to heads-up play in the 2010 WPT Rendez-Vous a Paris High Roller event.

Last year Deeb walked away with the title and €290,000, but this time it was Mizzi who came out on top.

Mizzi had the upper hand for most of the tournament, in fact, grabbing the chip lead on Day 1 and staying at the top of the leaderboard all the way through the final table.

Mizzi came into the final table with 672,500 in chips, well ahead of Nichlas Matsson with 470K and Deeb with 275K.

By the time they reached heads-up play, Mizzi had padded his lead to 1.3 million to 300k over Deeb.

Deeb managed to work his way up to 800k in chips before running his A J into Mizzi’s aces on a board of J 5 6. The turn and river brought no help for Deeb and that was the end of the comeback.

Mizzi adds the €234,495 and WPT Paris High Roller title to an impressive live and online poker resume that includes over $4 million in live earnings and two FTOPS titles.

Mizzi is currently a sponsored pro for Titan Poker.

Other big names who bought into the WPT Grand Prix de Paris High Roller event included Ludovic Lacay, Roberto Romanello, Jérôme  Zerbib, Basil Yaiche and Jean Noel Thorel.

The rest of the top 5 finishers and their payouts:

3. Nichlas Mattsson  €78,165
