The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss., will reopen Aug. 29, 12 months after Hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage to the casino and surrounding cities.
"We've been given a rare chance to do it all over again, and we have embarked on an even greater vision," said George Corchis, president of Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. "We've gone beyond just restoring the favorite offerings of Beau Rivage and included the kinds of amenities, technology and services that resorts built years from now will begin to provide. When we reopen August 29, we intend for Beau Rivage to continue its legacy as a strong community leader and the crown jewel of the Mississippi Gulf Coast."
According to a press release, the remodeled Beau Rivage will now feature a high-limit salon that will have a fully stocked lounge, around-the-clock concierge services, and a variety of games including blackjack, roulette, and slot machines. The 85,000-square-foot casino has also been completely redesigned with 93 table games, 2,100 slot machines, and a two-tiered poker room housing 16 tables.
At opening, the Beau Rivage will also feature 1,740 newly remodeled rooms, including 95 luxury suites, as well as seven restaurants, four bars and lounges, six retail stores, a spa and salon, and meeting and convention space. That's just a start as six more retailers are planned to open in October, and three new gourmet restaurants and the theater are scheduled to open in December. The spa will also be adding a new pedicure room in January.
"We're anxious to open our doors for our customers and to get our employees back to work," said Bobby Baldwin, president and CEO of Mirage Resorts. "With the opening of Beau Rivage, we understand that we're not just putting 3,800 people back to work, we're helping to put 3,800 families back on their feet. This is one step, of many to come, back to normalcy for our employees and our community."
It's hoped that the opening will have an immediate, significant impact on the local economy while simultaneously helping to revitalize Biloxi tourism as the premier resort destination on the coast.
