Microgaming giving the gifts on fourth b-day
By Erin Warner
Four years and more than a billion poker hands later, Micrograming is in the mood to celebrate. The world's largest poker network marks its fourth birthday next month, and instead of receiving gifts, its doling them out.
Microgaming is serving up $400,000 worth of what it's dubbing Magic Hand Freerolls. Participants in every 40,000th hand of a real-money ring game will be automatically entered into a $100,000 freeroll tournament.
In celebration of its birthday, the company will also pop its headlining monthly multi-table tournament to $400,000 from $250,000. The event will also be moved to March 18.
"Reaching our fourth anniversary is another landmark moment in our development and we are very proud that in just a few short years we have built the market leading poker network," said Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever.
"This success has come from our ability to provide a variety of tables for all levels, as well as complete independence - ensuring operators retain 100% ownership of their players."
Microgaming is one of the largest online gaming operators in the world, with more than 40 poker rooms dealing 2 million hands per day and paying out $4.5 million each month. Popular poker rooms on the company's network include Bet365Poker, GNUF and Purple Lounge Poker.
