With two wins and a third final table on the EPT in 2008 Jason Mercier is a made man in Europe. Now you can follow his personal blog right here at PokerListings.

Mercier exploded out of the gate one year ago at EPT San Remo with a nearly €900,000 win. It was his first major live cash.

On Saturday he'll be returning to Italy to defend his title and he'll be taking the opportunity to kick-start his new role as a PokerListings.com blogger.

Having cut his teeth in the online arena Mercier was blown away by his experience in San Remo last year.

"It was all pretty surreal," he said. "It was my first live cash and it was a million-dollar score. The whole experience was amazing and I'm really looking forward to going back and trying to do it all again.

"Going there one year ago was one of the biggest turning points in my life."

Mercier's Italian conquest was just the first step in a truly amazing year. A few months later he re-crossed the pond to make a final-table appearance in Barcelona, good for €227,000.

Less than a month after that he took down the EPT £1 Million Showdown and added another $944,847 to the pile.

Despite the many final tables he's found himself at since, nothing's compared with his coming out party in Italy.

"All the fans for Dario [Minieri] were screaming at the top of their lungs," reminisced Mercier. "I thought that all final tables were going to be that crazy. It was a bit of a disappointment making other final tables and it not being quite as exciting."

This description is typical of people who experienced the inaugural San Remo EPT a year ago. Italians are known for their passion and they certainly bring it to the poker table.

This year 100 more seats have been added to the player cap, which now sits at 800. Over 200 packages have already been awarded by PokerStars.com and with the game gaining serious momentum in Italy, it's expected to be a sell-out event.

Defending his title isn't the only thing Mercier is excited about, however.

"I'm excited not only that I'll be able to communicate better with my family, friends and fans about what's going on in my poker life, but also about being able to put my own thoughts down on paper and basically keep a timeline of the events going on in my life," Mercier said about his new blog.

"It's almost like writing a book, just over a long period of time."

Mercier will be giving fans an inside look at the poker world through the eyes of an up and coming professional.

His first blog entries will be done from location in Italy at EPT San Remo so keep an eye on the blog section to hear what he has to say.

You can also follow live coverage of EPT San Remo in PokerListings' Live Tournaments section beginning Saturday.
