Master Classics of Poker set for 16th run

Poker players will be on Marcel Luske's home turf for the Master Classics of Poker Nov. 2-10.

Holland Casino continues to see an increase in the popularity of poker. One indicator is the large number of entrants already signed up for the 16th Master Classics of Poker at the Amsterdam casino.
The Master Classics of Poker is one of Europe's largest and best-known international poker tournaments. With seven events, including the €5,000 buy-in main event, the series attracts players from all around the world.
Last year saw Dutch players such as Marcel Luske, Rob Hollink, Noah Boeken and Jorryt van Hoof take to the felt. Other stars who participated include Simon Trumper, Mickey Finn, Eddy Scharf, Tom Nightingale, Alan Smurfit, Roy Brindley and David "Devilfish" Ulliott.
Overall, countries such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Austria, Germany, Slovakia and the Scandinavian countries have been well-represented at the Master Classics of Poker.
Last year, a total of €3.3 million was handed out in the prize pools from all the events. This year looks on track to be just as big, as 2,080 entry tickets have already been sold.

Last year's winner of the main event, the Lido Poker Tournament, was Alex Jalali of Germany. He received €690,000.
