martonas battles durrrr in epic online session
This is starting to get ridiculous.
It appears Tom "durrrr" Dwan and unidentified online player martonas are going to keep playing each other until one of them is broke.
Starting at approximately 5 a.m. ET, Dwan and martonas enganged in what can only be described as one of the most epic online sessions ever, playing a comination of No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha on Full Tilt Poker.
While others joined in, the action was primarily heads up.
At 6:30 p.m. ET the two had just finished playing and the interim results are already mind-boggling.
Four of the top 10 biggest pots recorded in the last year were played during the session with approximately $3 million spread between four tables.
In fact, at about 11 a.m. ET, durrrr and martonas played the second biggest online poker hand recorded this year.
It was K♠ K♦ for martonas while durrrr was dealt a modest 5♠ 4♠.
After martonas three-bet pre-flop, durrrr made a huge raise to $34,600. martonas called and the flop came K♥ 3♠ 2♦. Both players checked as martonas tried to slow-play his set of kings and durrrr was just happy to see a free turn card.
It came 4♦ and martonas could wait no longer, firing a bet of $78,000.
durrrr called, the river came 6♣ and suddenly he had a straight. martonas shoved for $268,860 and durrrr insta-called, shipping the $603,752 pot.
Dwan also won a $570,906 pot when he turned a king-high flush against martonas.
All this No-Limit action has significantly shaken up the top Hold'em earners according to stats collected by PokerListings' MarketPulse.
The board went virtually unchanged for several months with Pot-Limit Omaha the only game going.
However, the recent emergence of martonas has juiced up the No-Limit Hold'em action significantly.
As a result, martonastook over the overall No-Limit Hold'em earner title with $1.7 million heading into today's action.
LarsLuzak is second with $1.2 million while aejones has made it into third place with $1.1 million. durrrr currently sits fourth with $890,000, but the results of this latest epic session have yet to be calculated.
To give you an idea of just how sick the action was, martonas was down approximately $3 million at one point today.
He looked to have erased about $1 million of that loss by the time play stopped, but the results are still coming in.
Keep checking the top Hold'em earners to see who came out on top in today's action.
