Marc Goodwin wins GUKPT Leg 4
The Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour headed to Manchester over the weekend for Leg 4 of its season. This time it was pro player Marc Goodwin defeating a 309-player field to take the win.
Marc Goodwin, who is known in the poker world as Mr. Cool, entered the final table of the event third in the chip count behind Zachary Ford and Nick Persaud.
He'd taken the chip lead early on the final day of play in the GUKPT Manchester main event, but gave it up just before the final table. Once the final table began play, however, he regained the chip lead and pressed his advantage to seal the win.
The final table came down to Goodwin versus Persaud heads-up. It didn't take long for Goodwin to add Persaud's chips to his stack as well.
On the final hand, the chips went all-in on a flop of A-T-3, which Goodwin holding A-8 to Persaud's K-T. A jack on the turn gave Persaud some outs, but another jack on the river gave Goodwin the win.
The £90,420 win adds to Goodwin's more than $1 million in career tournament winnings so far. He has cashes in events all over the world including European Poker Tour, World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker events.
Persaud has already made two previous final tables in this year's GUKPT, and according to a report from the GUKPT, this second-place finish puts him on top of the tour's leaderboard.

Goodwin also received a free entry to the £3,000 Grand Final plus a seat in the Champion of Champion's tournament. All the final-table players received an iPod Nano.
The next stop on the GUKPT will be in Newcastle from May 14-18.
