Make way for Willy! Jepsen wins Polish Open

Peter Jepsen

The mysterious Peter Jepsen - who you might remember from his turn as the peculiar "Pete Willy" at this year's Caribbean Poker Classic - has come in from the cold: He's now your European Poker Tour Season 3 (EPT3) Polish Open champ and proud recipient of the corresponding over-size €325,633 novelty check.

It was a unique one indeed, the EPT3 Polish Open, but nonetheless a rousing success for the first-ever big money poker tournament on Polish soil.

High-stakes side games, marked aces, scantily-clad nursemaids, and intermittently flummoxed dealers were just some of the highlights sifted through by's Matt Showell in his quest for live updates, and perhaps, in the end, there's no more fitting winner than the similarly unpredictable "Pete Willy."

The now-openly Peter Jepsen ran out to the chip lead on Day 2 and held serve for the most part, finally arriving at the final table second in chips only to runner-up-to-be Farid Meraghni

A drawn-out heads-up match ensued when the rest had been vanquished, only to see Farid finally push in with 2-3 off-suit and bottom pair and watch Jepsen call and cripple him with trip fives.

Maraghni pushed on the very next hand and that was all she wrote, handing the title to Jepsen, a cash game specialist and one of the founding members of the Danish national poker team.

Next up for Jepsen and the rest of Europe: the EPT Season 3 Grand Final in Monte Carlo, set for March 28-April 2. will of course be live feltside with all the updates again in the Live Tournament Section.

Until then you're encouraged to relive the Polish Open in all it's glory with great hand recaps, inside scoops and a revealing interview with the winner all to be found in said section.

Here are your Polish Open final table results and winnings:
