Hollywood's upcoming poker flick, "Lucky You," will feature cameos by a wide variety of poker's most recognizable personalities. Pro players will either play themselves of fictionalized counterparts. The movie shot on location in Las Vegas over the course of seven weeks this past spring, and features scenes from Binion's Bullpen, the Bellagio poker room, and the Aladdin casino.
The Warner Brothers drama starring Drew Barrymore, Eric Bana, and Robert Duvall has enjoyed unprecedented involvement and input from a slew of poker's most reputable players, and will reportedly include cameos by Max Pescatori, Matt Savage, Mimi Tran, Cyndy Violette, Marsha Waggoner, and Robert Williamson III.
Academy Award winning director Curtis Hanson ("L.A. Confidential," "Wonder Boys," "8 Mile") and Academy Award winning screenplay writer Eric Roth ("Forrest Gump," "The Insider") wanted to capture the poker industry as no movie has before. Therefore, they consulted with poker legend Doyle Brunson, pro player Jason Lester, and 2005 WSOP tournament director Matt Savage on the film, which tells the story of a struggling singer (Barrymore) who finds love with a professional poker player (Bana) as he reunites with his estranged father (Duvall) at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
