Lrslzk Returns to Win $148k
There was a Finnish player dominating the high stakes online games last night and for once his name wasn’t Ilari Sahamies.
Lrslzk, or Sami Kelopuro as he he’s known in the real world, had not been particularly active in the high stakes scene over the last few weeks but he came back with a vengeance yesterday.
Kelopuro fired off 467 hands of $200/$400 Six-Max PLO and absolutely crushed his opponents.
Although the players rotated, Kelopuro took significant pots from Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka, Rafi “refaelamit” Amit, bernard-bb and even the aforementioned Ilari Sahamies.
Kelopuro used to smash the high stakes online games as LarsLuzak on Full Tilt and in 2007 he picked up $1.5 million playing against top tier talent like Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey.
Since then he has been significantly less involved in the nosebleed games although he did win a high roller event in Finland for $125k this summer.
Thanks to his victory last night, Kelopuro edges closer to getting even on PokerStars in 2011. He’s now down only $34k, which is a marked improvement from being down $177k in mid-August.
Apparently when one Finn is on the rise another must fall as Ilari Sahamies recorded his first losing session in nearly two weeks.
Sahamies played 727 hands and ended up dropping $200k. It was a significant loss for the Finnish pro but he still holds a profit of $693k in 2011 thanks to his excellent work this month.
Joining Kelopuro at the top of the charts were T13NM1NH04 (+$54k), L0ve2playU (+$52k), refaelamit (+$44k) and machado28 (+$34k).
Meanwhile Sahamies had some company at the bottom with Brian “$tinger 88” Hastings dropping $42k. It’s been an interesting month for Hastings, who moved to Vancouver, Canada, to play online poker. He’s still up $282k in 2011, however.
Some of the other notable losers last night included montefaarao (-$30k), Imperium9_9 (-$30k) and verve.oasis (-$28k).
