James Bord Wins WSOPE Main Event!

James Bord takes it home for London.

It's over! James Bord has done it, defeating Fabrizio Baldassari to take down this year's WSOP Europe main event champion!

We've got the details of the final hands below but make sure to check back in about an hour for a video interview with Mr. Bord himself.

The Crippler

Baldassari limped his button and Bord put in a raise to 330,000. Baldassari thought for a moment before check-raising all-in.

Bord beat him into the pot and tabled A-K which only had a slight edge over Baldassari’s Q-8.

Bord’s cheering section was as vocal as they’ve been all night, calling for an ace even though all their champion had to do was dodge a queen or an eight.

The board ran out with no improvement to either hand and Bord doubled up in a big way to take the chip lead.

The Death Blow

James Bord was in the lead when a flurry of raising and reraising broke out before the flop. All the money went in with Bord’s pocket tens enjoying a big edge over Baldassari’s fives.

The board ran with nary a five making an appearance and just like that the tournament was Bord’s.

Fabrizio Baldassari takes £513,045 for second while James Bord takes the bracelet and a whopping £830,401!

Check out the video interview we did with Bord moments after the win.

Lee Leaves; Heads-Up Begins at WSOPE Main Event

Ronald Lee
Ronald not loving it.

Things went downhill in a hurry for Ronald Lee, going from the massive chip leader to bust in little more than a level. With his elimination we have our heads-up match between home-town hero James Bord and Italy's Fabrizio Baldassari.

Read on for the tale of Lee's demise as well as the heads-up chip counts.

James Bord - 4.12 million

Fabrizio Baldassari - 6.26 million

Ronald Lee Out in Third

Like we said, things really took a nasty turn for Ronald Lee in the last hour. Shortly after losing the chip lead to Fabrizio Baldassari he three-bet shoved from the small blind over the top of a James Bord opener.

Bord called and tabled A-K which would have to improve against Lee's fives. Bord's cheering section was going absolutely mental calling for an ace or a king, and they just about spilled over the rail when a king hit the flop.

A brick on the turn and a third king on the river made Lee's elimination official.

Ronald Lee takes £376,829 for his third-place finish.

Three-Handed Continues at WSOPE Main Event Final Table

Fabrizio Baldassari
Fabrizio Baldassari

We're still three-handed at this final table but the complexion of this match has changed considerably since we last checked in.

It looked like Ronald Lee was making a beeline to the winner's circle but things aren't looking so bright for the young American. We've got the story and the new chip counts for you below.

Baldassari Takes Over Chip Lead

How things can change in a poker tournament. Not 30 minutes ago Fabrizio Baldassari was on the brink of elimination, all-in with A-4 against Ronald Lee's A-K. A four-ball rolled out on the flop, however, giving the Italian reason to celebrate, which he did by kissing his girlfriend passionately on the rail (How else do you expect an Italian to celebrate?)

Just a few hands later he got into it with Lee once again. Lee opened from the small blind and Baldassari three-bet from the big blind. Lee called and they saw a flop of Q-9-5 rainbow.

Lee checked and Baldassari fired 275,000. Lee didn't take much time to announce raise, putting in another 525,000.

Baldassari called and they checked through the king turn. An ace hit the river and Lee checked one final time. Baldassari began counting out chips and slid 620,000.

Lee called and Baldassari turned over pocket fives for the set, taking the pot and the chip lead in one fell swoop.

Bord, James Bord

The man who's one letter away from a cool name managed a much-needed double moments ago. All-in with A-3 against Ronald Lee's K-Q. Neither hand improved and Bord moved up to around 2.4 million.

Levi and de Wolfe Gone; 3 Remain at WSOPE Main Event Finale

de Wolfe denied de bracelet.

It's official, there are zero familiar faces left in this tournament. Nicolas Levi and Roland de Wolfe, the biggest names at this final table, have been eliminated.

While it might not be good news for poker fans it's certainly a positive thing for the three players still in with a chance at the bracelet.

Read on for the details on those two busts plus the three-handed chip counts.

Three on the Tree

1 Ronald Lee 6,300,000
2 Fabrizio Baldassari 2,645,000
3 James Bord 1,350,000

de Wolfe Demolished (4th)

Roland de Wolfe has been working from the shortstack for the last few levels and he showed no aversion to moving it all-in. He eventually got looked up by Fabrizio Baldessari with A-8 leading his K-Q, all-in preflop.

An ace on the turn put Roland in a tight spot and after the board bricked out all he could do was get up and go. Roland de Wolfe takes £278,945 for fourth place.

Levi Distressed (5th)

PL.com had high hopes for our friend Nicolas Levi in this event and although 5th and £208,119 is an amazing accomplishment, we know he had his sights set on the win.

Levi has won a few all-in flips already at this final table so you might say he was due for a loss. He got it in with pocket nines against Ronald Lee's K-Q and saw a king hit the turn.

Steinberg Busts, Five Left at WSOPE Main Event Final Table

Nic Levi
FOPL.com Nic Levi still in.

It took some time but we're down to five with the recent elimination of Daniel Steinberg. The hand was a little surprising considering how deep he was so read on for the details and a look at the five-handed chip counts.

Ronald Lee got things started with a raise to 110k and Steinberg re-popped to 285,000. Lee thought things over before putting in a fourth bet, setting Steinberg all-in.

Faced with a big decision, Steinberg too some time before calling with the A J. He was flipping against Lee's pocket fours and couldn't catch even a little piece of the board.

Daniel Steinberg is out in 6th for £156,530.

Here's a look at the new counts.

1 Ronald Lee 4,200,000
2 Fabrizio Baldassari 2,320,000
3 James Bord 2,295,000

Six in the Mix at WSOPE Main Event Final Table

Ronald Lee
Chip leader Ronald Lee.

Dan Fleyshman, the man who came into the day in the number one spot, is now walking out the door in seventh place. After a protracted period of seven-handed play we're one step closer to a champion.

It was all downhill for Fleyshman today as he saw his stack laid to waste. He was down to well under ten big blinds when he three-bet shoved on Ronald Lee. Lee's got a mountain of chips and had no problem calling with K-5.

He had the best of it against Fleyshman's J-Ts and things got even better for the youngster when a king hit the flop.

Dan Fleyshman, CEO of Victory Poker, is out in seventh and will take home £118,643.

With that elimination Ronald Lee has extended his lead, as you can see from the updated counts below.

1 Ronald Lee 3,380,000
2 Daniel Steinberg 2,180,000
3 Nicolas Levi 1,725,000

Brian Powell
Powell throws in towel.

After a period of warmup we've got our first big hand of the day, and it ended with the elimination of both Brian Powell and Marc Inizan.

Inizan shoved, Powell called and Ronald Lee called behind. A-K for Lee and pocket eights for both of the all-in players!

A king on the flop came to Lee's aid and just like that we're down to seven. Ronald Lee is now the monster chip leader with 3.5 million!

Marc Inizan takes £54,114 for ninth while Brian Powell receives £69,754 for eighth.
