Day 3 Live Updates
Phil Laak Wins WSOPE 2010 Event 1: £2,500 Six-Max
2 years agoThis event is over! After a competitive heads-up match against Canadian Andrew Pantley, Phil Laak was able to secure his first WSOP bracelet and more than £170,000!
Each of the final two buckled down and what first looked like a powder-keg ready to go off turned into a serious and drawn out battle.
The chip lead swung back and forth before we saw the hand that put Laak firmly in control. Pantling held a lead of around 350,000 and they got the money in on the turn with the board reading T♣ 7♣ 6♣ K♠. Laak held 6♥ 7♥ for bottom two while Pantling had the super-mega-combo draw with 6♠ 8♣.The river was a brick and Laak moved way out in front.
Not long after Laak three-bet shoved K♦ 5♣ and got a call from Pantling's A♥ 9♥. The flop was good for Pantling, coming 7-4-4 with two hearts. Laak was looking for a five that wasn't a heart and managed to nail it on the turn with the 5♦.
The river was no help to Pantling and just like that Phil Laak had his first bracelet.
This was a sellout event with 244 entrants, building a prize pool of £610,000.
Phil Laak takes £170,802 for his first-place finish while Andrew Pantling pockets a cool £105,506.

Heads-Up for the £2,500 Six-Max Bracelet!
2 years agoChris Bjorin has been eliminated meaning we're heads-up for the bracelet and over £170,000!
We've got the details on Bjorin's third-place finish below, plus the brand-new chip counts to kick off this one-on-one duel duel to the death.
Bjorin to Bust (3rd £70,473)
Chris Bjorin is an absolute machine when it comes to going deep in tournaments and he's got two WSOP bracelets to prove it.
Bjorin was the shortstack at the time of his exit but still managed to get coolered out of the event. He got it in with queens against Phil Laak's kings and that was all there was to it.
Bjorin, unfazed, walked straight to his seat in the £5,000 PLO event that just started.
Heads-Up Counts
Andrew Pantling has a slight edge in this match but, as we know, anything can happen.
Andrew Pantling - 1 million
Phil Laak - 800,000
Three Left at £2,500 Six-Max Finale!
2 years agoThis final table is just a couple hours old but already the field has been halved. We had a feeling coming into this thing that Andrew Pantling would be the man to watch and so far that prediction has proved accurate.
Read on for the updated chip counts as well as the bust-out details for Willie Tann, Ilan Rouah and David Peters.
The Counts and Nothing But the Counts
Andrew Pantling is pretting much owning this final table.
| Andrew Pantling | 1.35 million |
| Phil Laak | 285,000 |
| Chris Bjorin | 210,000 |
David Peters Out (4th - £48,202)
We had high hopes for David Peters but he bit off a bit more than he could chew going up against the monster stack Andrew Pantling.
Peters opened from under the gun and Pantling defended the big blind. The flop came down K-Q-2 with two spades and it went check-check. Pantling bet the 4♠ on the turn and got a call. He shipped the 2♣ on the turn.
Peters thought for a while before making the call somewhat dejectedly. Pantling quickly turned over K-J which was miles ahead of David's pocket eights.
Rouah Ravaged (5th - £33,617)
Ilan Rouah enjoyed the chip leader position for some time durinng the playdown yesterday but couldn't ride it to the win.
He was down to about ten bigs and three-bet shoved A-T, getting a call from Phil Laak with J-9. A jack hit the flop and Rouah was unable to hit an ace.
Dice Man Rolled (6th - £23,900)
Willie "The Dice Man" Tann coasted into this final table on fumes and it didn't take long for him to tank out. He managed an early double but lost the farm in a hand with chip leader Andrew Pantling.
Tann defended a Panlting opener and they got it in on a 3-3-4 flop. Pocket nines for Pantling were good against Tann's pocket sevens.

The Rundown
Six players are vying for this bracelet, and the first place cash, and we want to give you a bit of background on each.
Andrew Pantling (627,500)
Andrew Pantling hails from Canada and he's looking to add another bracelet to the five won already in 2010 by the Great White North. Pantling gave up the igloos and threat of polar bears, however, and now lives in Malta where runs his own online gaming business.
Pantling has had a few notable runs, the biggest of which being the €120,000 he earned for winning the €5k Heads-Up event at the EPT Grand Final last year.
Chris Bjorin (368,500)
Chris Bjorin is pretty much the man around these parts. He is the leading all-time casher at the WSOPE and he's looking to add even more to his record this year.
We got a taste of what this Swede is capable of last year when he made deep runs in all three WSOPE events. He made two final tables and finished 11th in the third for a combined total of £185,273.
Phil Laak (317,000)
Phil Laak is bringing the star power to this final table and he's looking to lock up he first WSOP bracelet ever right here today.
We caught him yesterday and he told us how after his world-record setting marathon session in Las Vegas this summer he's become sort of superhuman.
According to Laak everything just clicked and judging by his results in the last month or two it's hard to argue with him. We're going to post a long video of his ranting later today so make sure to check back for that.
David Peters (251,500)
Straight out of the United States of America comes David Peters. He's made millions online and his live tournament winnings already tip the scales at $2 million. His is a name you should remember.
Anything can happen but we like this guy's chances today.
Ilan Rouah (200,000)
We don't know a lot about this Frenchman but we saw him involved in a lot of hands yesterday and we know he's not afraid to put it on the line.
With just one notable score for around $150k at an event in Paris he's looking to start building a serious record here in London.
Willie Tann (72,000)
The consummate grinder, Willie Tann's list of cashes fills pages and pages on the Hendon mob. He's entering this final table on a hope, a prayer and by far the shortest stack of the table.
It's going to be a tough road for old Willie but we figure a guy with the nickname "The Dice Man" might have a few tricks up his sleeve.
