WSOPC Indiana - Oberlin Wins!

Samuel Oberlin
Winnar!

It's over here in Indiana and Samuel Oberlin is champ.

He took the lead pushing the action after flopping an ace then dusted off Jerry Martin catching queens again. The action in the final hand began with a limp from Martin on the button and Oberlin making it $40k more to play. Jerry called and the flop came J 5 4.

Oberlin made it $85k, Martin pushed in and Oberlin snap called showing Q Q. Martin had J 7 and it was all over when the 8 turn and A river fell.

Martin grabs $79,480 for second while Oberlin gets the $143,064 first place prize plus the WSOP Main Event seat, the flashy ring and an exclusive PL.com interview.

David Kopacz
Tilt much?

We're heads up now that David Kopacz' meltdown is complete. Facing a $46k raise from Jerry Martin he shoved from the small blind and Jerry beat him to the pot.

It was pocket queens for Martin against the unbelievable Q-6 off for Kopacz. The case queen on the flop was enough to make it look really bad for Kopacz and he's out third cashing $43,714.

Heads up Jerry Martin has over $1 million in chips to Samuel Oberlin's $230k.

WSOPC Indiana - Ashby Trayed (4th)

Len Ashby
Ashby flicked.

Louisville's Len Ashby is out fourth after shoving with a draw that never materialized. The action in Len's final hand started with his own raise to $34k from the small blind.

Jerry Martin flatted from the big and the K 7 6 flop was revealed. Both players checked, but when the 3 turn came, Ashby bet out $40k.

Martin made it $80k and a confused Ashby couldn't contain himself.

"You got it buddy?" he asked, before shoving and putting Martin to the test.

The answer was yes, Jerry called and felted K J. Top pair was good, but Martin needed to fade Ashby's 9 8 open ender.

The 4 river helped him do that and while Martin increased his lead, Ashby was headed to the cage to grab $31,792 in fourth place prize money.

Three handed Martin has $830k to David Kopacz' $260k and Samuel Oberlin's $210k.

WSOPC Indiana - Everybody Do The Mess Around

Len Ashby
Local boy bluffs good!

After a $28k button raise from Len Ashby, David Kopacz struck back from the big blind making it $49,000 more.

After finding out the exact amount, Ashby promptly shoved for $150,000 more. Counting out his stack to discover he would be left with just $35k should he call and lose, Kopacz eventually gave it up.

"I know you're messing around and you've got to stop," Ashby said, showing the rather messy Q 9.

WSOPC Indiana - Kopacz Donks Off The Lead

David Kopacz
WTF?

David Kopacz has given away his chip lead to Jerry Martin after some bizarre post river play.

The hand began with a $31k raise from Martin from the small blind and Kopacz protecting his big.

Both players checked it down the whole way until they were faced with a 10 9 7 3 8 board. The fireworks came next with Jerry lead out for $45k and David pretty much min-raising it up to $100k.

Martin shoved for some $150,000 more and Kopacz tanked for a minute before making a crying call. He showed K 6 for the sucker end of the straight and Martin had him crushed with A K for the nut flush.

Martin now has the lead with over $500,000 and Kopacz has only himself to blame for dipping below $200,000.

Joey Couden
Joey Lawrenced!

Joey Couden's amazing run back into contention is now over. He limped the small blind and Len Ashby checked his option.

Joey tapped the table when the J 5 5 flop fell and Ashby led out for $13k. It was push or fold time for Couden and he did the former.

Ashby insta-called with 10 5 and Couden let an explative fly turning over A A. The 9 turn and 3 river were no help to Joey and he's out fifth taking $27,818.

Joey Couden
Whoa!

In a battle of short stacks between Len Ashby and Joey Couden, Ashby spiked an ace with A-7 to beat Couden's pocket fives and cripple the Columbus native.

With less than one big blind after the hand, Couden shoved with K 3 and quadded up making trip threes, then doubled that to $120k hitting two pair with 5 3.

Amazingly, he's right back in it.

Jamin jarred!

A swift one-two punch from David Kopacz has suddenly sent Jamin Stokes to the rail sixth.

First Kopacz doubled through him with kings over tens then David's A-9 off turned an ace to beat Jamin's sevens and end his hopes of WSOPC Indiana glory.

He will take home $23,844 for sixth and just like that we're down to five.

WSOPC Indiana - Whelan Away (7th)

I's the bye

Derek Whelan called a Samuel Oberlin $25k raise from the cutoff in the big blind and the two went heads up to a J 5 5 flop.

Whelan checked, but check-raised all-in when Obedrlin made it $25k. Oberlin called all-in for his tournament life showing 6 5 for trips and Whelan had the club draw with K 10. The Newfie picked up the open ender as well when the Q turned, but the 2 river didn't help.

Whelan was crippled down to $20k and shipped it soon after with A 2 failing to connect against Oberlin's flopped jack. He'll grab $18,970 for seventh.

WSOPC Indiana - Let's Gamble

TYVM.

Jerry Martin just made a brutal call after getting talked into gambling by Derek Whelan.

The hand began with a $25k raise in early position from Martin and a shove from Whelan for $67k more.

"Let's gamble," the cocky Canadian said. "You've got the chips to gamble."

"It would be a big gamble for me," Martin said, before making the call with just K J.

Of course, Whelan had the lead with A Q and Martin watched close to half his stack get shipped over to Newfoundland when the 8 4 5 7 4 board brought no surprises.

WSOPC Indiana - The Rising

Dodging the duck race.

Tensions are certainly high here in Level 14 with big decisions in almost every hand.

Moments after picking up a pot with an under the gun raise and then getting a walk in the big blind, Derek Whelan raised it up to $15k from the small blind when the action folded to him again.

However, Len Ashby, who had been complaining at the break about his lack of cards, was having none of it. He soved for $77k more putting the Newfoundlander to a decision for most of his chips.

"You pushing with ace-high?" Whelan asked. "I don't know if I can fold."

After a brief time in the tank, Jamin Stokes called the clock, but Whelan chucked it in before the ten second count began.

Ashby flashed a deuce and a smile, claiming a pair of them.

WSOPC Indiana - Express Yourself

Samuel Oberlin
Woke up, didn't choke up, grabbed his AK, it was broke up.

At the start of play Samuel Oberlin was chip leader, but some seriously passive play has led to Jamin Stokes grabbing top spot from him.

Oberlin had played very few pots allowing the blinds and antes to eat away at his stack, but it seems he's ready to stand up and be counted now.

After David Kopacz tried to push him around from the small blind making it $16k, he fired back from the big blind adding $49,000 to the mix and putting Kopacz to the test.

David thought for a while, counting out all his grey $5,000 chips before eventually flashing an ace and letting the newly assertive Oberlin take the pot.

WSOPC Indiana - Tight Play; Loose Talk

Jerry Martin
Chatterbox!

While play has certianly tightened up here at the final table, with the overwhelming majority of the hands being of the raise-and-take-it variety, the talk is loose as can be.

In fact, Jamin Stokes seems more interested in talking about Sunday's NFL scores and a few gaffs from around the league than anything else.

Jerry Martin has poker on the brain, though, and after making a late position raise to $28k he pulled out just about every poker cliche in the book to let everyone know it.

"Just give me the blinds and I'll go home happy," he said. "I'll show. There's no shame in folding. Don't do anything you'll regret."

Because of all his chatter, or perhaps despite it, everyone folded and Martin took his turn stealing the blinds.

Ray day!
The extremely short stacked Ray Lynn just tripled up to stay alive here in Indiana. After a Len Ashby raise to $12k under the gun, Jerry Martin flatted and Ray decided it was go time shoving his last $13,500 in.

For just $1,500 more, both Martin and Ashby made the obvious call and the flop fell Q 5 5. Martin and Ashby checked, but when the 10 turn came, Ashby pushed Martin off his hand with a $20k bet.

The cards were turned over and in some kind of Indiana miracle Ray had 5 4 for trips to Len's K Q top pair. The river was the meaningless 3 and Lynn now has $44k.
