That's All Folks! Jordan Morgan Is Champion!

Jordan Morgan Wins!
The unstoppable Jo-Mo!

Finishing what he started, Jordan Morgan has ended this match after getting his opponent all-in on a draw and making his hand hold up past the river. It started with Hawkins limping from the small blind and Morgan raising to $45,000 from the big. He got an insta-call and the flop came 9 8 5.

Hawkins led out for $40,000 and Morgan immediately moved in. Hawkins tanked for a few moments before making the call and tabling J T for the open-ender. Morgan was in the lead with 9 2 for top pair and after the board finished out 4 K it was all over for Terry Hawkins.

The Hawk will receive $108,554 for his trouble while our champion, Jordan Morgan, will take home $206,889, a gold Circuit ring and a seat to next year's WSOP Main Event. PL.com would like to congratulate Jordan as well as all the other players who cashed in this event.

So that's it from Tunica; join us on the next stop of the WSOP Circuit in Lake Tahoe which begins on Halloween day. Until then, we'll be all over the WPT, the EPT and every other major tournament worldwide. You know how we do!

J-Mo or Steamroller?

Terry Hawkins
Flattened.

Jordan Morgan is doing his best bulldozer impression and has just taken down another massive pot, adding to his already commanding chip lead. The hand started with Morgan calling from the small blind and Hawkins checking his option in the big.

The flop came J T 5 and after a check from Terry, Morgan bet out $16K. The turn was the T and both players checked. The river was the 8 and Terry checked once again, inducing a $65,000 bet from Morgan. Hawkins makes the call and Morgan turns over Q 9 for the straight. Hawkins mucks, leaving himself dangerously close to the felt.

Jo-Mo: Not to be trifled with!

Jordan Morgan has taken back the chip lead with this hand after flopping a monster and, despite failing to trap his opponent for all his chips, getting paid off nicely.

It began with Hawkins limping from the small blind and Morgan checking his option in the big. Both players saw a flop of Q 6 4 and after a check from Jordan, Hawkins fired $40,000. Morgan made the call and the 7 hit the turn. Jordan took the lead and bet out $55,000, getting a call from his opponent.

The 2 hit the river and J-Mo checked it. Hawkins opted to do the same and saw he had made a great decision as Morgan turned over pocket queens for top set. With that hand Morgan has gained a decisive edge in this match.

Morgan Fights Back

Jordan Morgan
The comeback kid.

After enjoying a sizable chip lead in the later stages of the evening, Jordan Morgan's throne was usurped by Terry Hawkins when he dispatched Jerry Saucier and paved the way to the heads-up match. Shortly into one-on-one action though, J-Mo has regained some ground.

This hand began with the Hawk firing $40,000 on a flop of J 9 7 and getting a call from Morgan on the button. The turn brought the 4 and Hawkins fired a second barrel, this time $60K, getting a call from Morgan.

The river was the Q and after a check from Terry, Morgan bet out $225,000. Hawkins thought for a moment before releasing his hand and conceding the pot.

Saucier Sauce'd: Heads-Up Ensues!

Jerry Saucier
Last call for Saucier.

Just a short time into the latest level Jerry Saucier has been sent to the rail. Coming into three-handed play trailing his two competitors in chips, Jerry adopted a shove-every-hand mentality and succeeded in picking up a few sets of blinds and antes before running into bullets from Terry Hawkins in what would be his last hand.

Far from short with more than $350,000, Saucier moved in holding J 3 and got a quick call from the Hawk who tabled A A. Things were looking grim but the flop offered a glimmer of hope, coming T 7 6 and giving Saucier a flush draw. The crowd was on its feet as the dealer finished the board off 7 6. High-fives from Hawkins to his crew on the rail followed as Jerry Saucier makes his way to the exit, $63,855 richer.

Kill Gil

In the latest flurry of eliminations, Gil George has busted from the tournament in fourth place.

George gets all-in under the gun. "I'm going to give you some action," says Terry Hawkins, who shows pocket queens to George's A 9.

The board is K Q 9 to give Hawkins a set. The turn is the J and the river is the K to seal George's fate with a full house for Hawkins.

George heads home, sadly not a Gil-ionaire, but with $51,084 in tournament winnings.

Of the remaining players, Terry Hawkins has $403,000 in chips, Jerry Saucier has $273,000 and Jordan Morgan has $722,000.

Banks: Robbed

Glyn Banks has been eliminated from this tournament in fifth place.

Big stack Jordan Morgan did the damage in a hand that sees Terry Hawkins get things started with a limp under the gun. Morgan raises to $35,000 from the button and Banks is all-in for about $200,000 from the small blind.

Hawkins folds and Morgan asks for a count before calling with pocket nines. Banks flips up A K and the flop comes J 9 8 to give Morgan a set. The turn is the 6 which means Banks is drawing dead when the Q hits the river.

This puts Morgan in control of $722,000 of the $1,380,000 chips in play today.

Banks heads home with $38,313 in prize money.

Rutland Routed

Brian Rutland
Damn you J-Mo!

Brian Rutland has been eliminated from the tournament in sixth place after meeting with Jerry Saucier pre-flop.

Play is folded to Rutland in the small blind and he raises it to $29,000. Saucier makes it an additional $40,000 to go and Rutland is all-in. With $103,000 in chips, Saucier just has him covered and the pair show their hands: A-Kh for Rutland and A 8 for Saucier.

Despite Rutland's cry for no eight, it would be the door card on a T 8 3 8 9, sending him off the floor and out the door.

Rutland cashes $31,928 for his sixth-place finish in the WSOPC championship.

Two hands after losing almost all his stack to Jordan Morgan, Brian Rutland reclaims some lost ground by doubling through J-Mo.

Morgan is on the button and raises to $24,000. He then calls an all-in from Rutland, who has A-A to Morgan's Q T. The board is 9 8 3 7, which gives Morgan an open-ended straight draw, but the the river is the 5 and Rutland has doubled.

Morgan Takes a Big Lead

Jordan Morgan has doubled through Brian Rutland to shoot his stack up to $540,000.

Rutland limped in early position and Morgan checked from the big blind to see a flop of A Q T. Gil George is in the small blind and he checks, but Morgan bets $38,000. That's enough for Rutland to get all his chips - some $300,000 - in the middle.

George folds but Morgan calls with A T to Rutland's K J and broadway straight.

But the turn is the T and Rutland is drawing dead before the river, which is a two. With that, Rutland is down to $43,000 in chips. Morgan on the other hand has about $540,000 to his name.

Rutland Robs Banks

The action is folded to Glyn Banks in the small blind. He bets $25,000 on top of the blinds and is called by Brian Rutland in the big blind. The flop is 5 3 2 and Banks is immediately all-in for more than $300,000.

Rutland calls, saying "This might be it" as he shows two red nines to take the lead over Banks who has pocket sixes. "One time," says Banks as he waits for the turn and the river which bring the K 2.

The hand bumps Rutland up to $330,000 and drops Banks to $156,000.

Whole Lotta Limpin' Goin' On

Play is limping along here at the Grand Casino, with plenty of unraised pots, folds and limps to go around.

On a side note, Glyn Banks and Jordan Morgan seem to be clashing slightly. With Banks directly to Morgan's left the two are involved in a lot of pots and Morgan seems to be getting the best of it. Perhaps giving him the edge is Banks' tendency to show every hand before mucking.

The extra information no doubt makes Morgan happy, as does the presence of his mom who is sweating her son's final table.

Hyvonen Hits the Road

Stephen Hyvonen

Steve Hyvonen, a force to be reckoned with early in Day 2, has been eliminated from this tournament in eighth place.

The hand that caused his demise saw Terry Hawkins limp in and Hyvonen follow suit. Jerry Saucier makes it $12,000 to go from the big blind. Hawkins folds but Hyvonen calls to see the K Q 7 flop.

The cards move Hyvonen to open shove and Saucier to call in a flash. Hyvonen shows J T for an open-ended straight draw to Saucier's Q 7.
