$50k H.O.R.S.E. – The Salmon Leaps Ahead
Erik “The Salmon” Sagstrom just might be the best player you’ve never heard of but it might not be that way much longer.
Over the last hour of play the skilled Swedish player once again regained control of the chip lead and is looking more and more unstoppable as the night wears on.
Here’s a look at the latest updates from the tournament floor:
Lunkin and Seed Get Razzy
In a hand of Razz Huck Seed was showing (X)(X)4-8-2-3(X) to Vitaly Lunkin’s (X)(X)K-2-A-8(X) by seventh street.
Although both players had taken stabs at the pot it was Seed who would fire the last bet on seventh street. Lunkin thought for a minute and then made the call. Seed showed J-6-4 for an 8-low but Lunkin had him beat with 7-5-3 in the hole for a 7-low.
Seed is once again fighting from the short stack with just 620,000 chips.
Sagstrom vs. Bach
In a another hand of Razz Erik Sagstrom was showing (X-X)3-7-3-6(X) to David Bach’s (X-X)A-7-J-7(X) by seventh street. Bach had led the betting until sixth street when he paired his seven. Sagstrom bet again on seventh street and Bach made a crying call only to have show A-K-4 for a 7-6-4-3-A low.
After that massive hand Sagstrom was up to 4.6 million chips and Bach was down to approximately 2 million.

$50k H.O.R.S.E. – Five for Fighting!
We are one player closer to a winner in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event as we near 10 p.m. Las Vegas time. Historically the $50k H.O.R.S.E. has always taken a great deal of time thanks to the deep structures and Limit games of which it is made up.
Strangely the first final table of the $50k H.O.R.S.E., which was won by Chip Reese, played out in No-Limit Hold’em but also took until 10 a.m. the next day to complete.
We’re hopefully it doesn’t take that long to finish the H.O.R.S.E. tonight but either way it should be a spectacular finish to the prestigious event.
Luck of Huck
Huck Seed just got a nice turn of the cards as his pocket aces held up all the way across a dangerous board of Q
T
5
K
Q
. His opponent, Erik Sagstrom, fired a river bet as well but Seed made the call with his aces and Sagstrom could only manage J-T.
Ville Wahlbeck Finn-ished (Sixth)
Ville Wahlbeck put on a valiant effort to add yet another big score to his poker resume in this event but he’s finally been ousted.
In a round of Omaha-8 Wahlbeck bet and Bach called from the big blind. The flop came J
4
3
flop and Bach checked but Wahlbeck bet. Bach called and the turn came K
. Bach bet and Wahlbeck pushed all-in for the last of his chips. Bach called and the players tabled their cards:
Wahlbeck: 7
5
3
2
Bach: A
J
4
3
Bach had two pair for the lead while Wahlbeck had an open-ended straight draw and a low-draw. Instead the river finished with the 4
for Bach to fill up his full house and eliminate the Super-Finn.
Wahlbeck will receive $219,655 for his efforts in this event.
