$50k H.O.R.S.E. – Sagstrom Stricken!
After several more hours of play we finally have our third place elimination and it’s none other than former chip leader Erik Sagstrom.
Pretty much all the damage was dealt by David Bach who ran the table against Sagstrom during the latest Omaha-8 round.
In the elimination hand (which was also Omaha-8) John Hanson bet and then David Bach re-raised.
Sagstrom attempted to re-raise the last of his chips but because he didn’t verbalize his raise the floor manager made it stand as just a call.
The flop came K
7
6
and Hanson bet, Bach called and Sagstrom raised the last of his chips. Hanson re-raised an additional 225,000 into the side-pot and Bach called.
The turn came J
and Bach checked but Hanson fired again. Bach called and the river came K
and both players checked.
Surprisingly Hanson tabled 8
8
-X-X and that was enough to take it down.
Sagstrom will receive $522,394 for coming in third.

$50k H.O.R.S.E. – It’s Starting to Get Late
5 months ago
There are times when poker becomes less of a card game and more of an endurance sport.
We’re starting to near that time at the final table of the $50k H.O.R.S.E. as all but the most fervent railbirds have gone home, the cameramen are starting to look a little sleepy and for some reason Gus Hansen is doing the chip counting duties for live reporting crews.
Hansen has also taken a turn at announcing the final table, which is amusing, although somewhat hard to understand.
Here’s a look at the latest updates from the floor:
Sagstrom Makes it 7 Million
In a recent Omaha-8 hand Erik Sagstrom bet from the small blind and John Hanson called from the big blind.
The flop came T
5
3
and Sagstrom fired again and Hanson called again. The turn came 6
and this time Hanson bet, Sagstrom raised and Hanson called. The river came A
and both players checked.
The players revealed their cards:
Sagstrom: A
2
6
T
Hanson: A
J
9
4
Sagstrom’s 6-5-3-2-A low and two-pair high was good enough to scoop. After the hand Sagstrom was up past 7 million chips.
Return of Hanson
In a hand of Razz John Hanson and Erik Sagstrom traded bets back and forth to seventh street with the boards finally looking like this:
Sagstrom: (X)(X)5-6-4-K(X)
Hanson: (X)(X)6-4-9-Q(X)
On seventh street Sagstrom bet, Hanson raised and Sagstrom finally surrendered the pot. Hanson regained the chip lead after raking the pot.
