$2.5k Mixed Event - Ahmadi Wins! 5 months ago

Well that didn't take long. In the span of a few hands, Bahador Ahmadi has taken control of the $2.5k Mixed Event and won his first WSOP bracelet.

Ahmadi entered three-handed play second in chips but won a quick succession of pots to take over the chip lead.

Then he eliminated Ylon Schwartz in a preflop all-in confrontation that saw Schwartz three-bet all-in with Qd Ts against Ahmadi's As 2s.

The board ran 8c 5s 3h Kh Kc and Ahmadi's ace-high took it, busting the erstwhile November Niner and setting up a brief heads-up battle between Ahmadi and John McGuinness.

Ahmadi entered with the chip lead and quickly took the rest of the chips in play when McGuinness shipped his stack on an Ad 2d 7s flop.

Ahmadi made the call, tabling Jd 3d for the naked flush draw and finding himself up against McGuinness' Td Th.

The turn was the Kd, giving Ahmadi the flush and leaving McGuinness drawing dead. The river was the academic 4c and Ahmadi had won the tournament!

For the win, Ahmadi banks $278,793 while McGuinness walks with $172,227.
