Event 8, World Championship Mixed Event - Live Updates

The three remaining players have returned to finish off with a flourish the 'jack of all trades' tournament that is the $10k Mixed Championship event. Anthony Rivera hold a dominant lead and it looks like the other two players will be vying for the right to play him heads up.

A Glantz-ing Blow

Matt Glantz has been hit with the worst of it so far in the O8, He check called the whole way down of a J♠ 7♠ 9♠ 5♠ 4♠ board against Anthony Rivera only to be shown A♠ 2♠ 3♣ Q♦ for the nut-nut.

 

Return Of The Mac

Soon afterwards, Glantz loses another pot after he bets 40k on a T♦ 9♣ 9♦ flop. James Mackey, who had limp/called preflop from the small blind, calls this bet and then fires out 80k on the K♦ turn after Matt Glantz checks. Glantz shakes his head and folds.

Ant Attack!

Matt Glantz loses even more of his chips again in the next hand, he raises preflop from the small blind and Anthony Rivera calls from the big. Matt bets the 6♦ 8♦ 7♠ flop Anthony calls, then raises him on the 2♥ turn. Glantz shakes his head yet again but calls the extra bet before check calling another one on the A♣ river. Rivera shows 9♣ 3♣ 9♥ 5♥ for a nine-high straight and the second nut low. It's good for the scoop.

Glantz Re-Advance

Glantz raises from the button and James Mackey 3-bets from the big blind after Anthony gets out of the way. Mackey bets the Q♦ 4♥ 2♠ flop, Glantz calling with not too many chips behind, the turn is the Q♣ and now Glantz raises Mackey's bet. Mackey calls but then disgustedly mucks after Glantz bets the 2♦ river. Glantz overtakes 'mig.com' but both still trail Anthony Rivera.

 

Now that Michael DeMichele has gone broke the three players left in the event have headed off on a 60-minute dinner break. Play will resume at 8:40 p.m. Las Vegas time with Anthony Rivera in the lead.

DeMichele Defeated (4th)

Michael DeMichele has hit the rail 4th ($139,872) after losing all his chips in a 2-7 Triple Draw hand to Anthony Rivera.

DeMichele actually started the action before the first draw shipping his last $40k in. Both Rivera called and James Mackey made the call. DeMichele took just two cards on the first draw while Rivera and Mackey drew three before Rivera bet and Mackey called.

Each took just one card on the second draw. Rivera bet and Mackey called. DeMichele was the only one who took a card on the third draw and Rivera and Mackey checked it down.
Rivera's 8-7-6-4-2 was good enough to make the others muck and DeMichele is done.

Matt Glantz continues to hold a big lead over the rest of the field. In fact, he's now got more chips than everybody else combined. In the meantime, that combination no longer includes Eli Elezra as he just went broke as well.

Elezra Eliminated (5th)

It was a Stud-8 hand that did in Eli Elezra. Eli raised with the 7♦ showing before Michael DeMichele put him all in. Elezra made the call and showed the K♣ K♠ he had in the hole, but DeMichele had rolled up threes.

It never got any better for Eli while DeMichele made made a full house on the end sending him to the cage to grab his $108,288 fifth place prize.

James Mackey has moved up to over $1 million in chips, but this is really all about Matt Glantz and his $1.6 million stack at the moment. Over the last hour Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Sam Farha have gone broke and we're down to just five.

Durrrr Decapitated (7th)

Tom Dwan is out in 7th place and will cash $67,680 after pushing all in playing Limit Hold'em against a Michael DeMichele raise.

Both Anthony Rivera and DeMichele called treating us to more action on the 10♦ 9♠ 3♦ flop which saw Rivera bet and DeMichele call.

The 5♥ turn ended the side pot with a Rivera bet and a DeMichele fold allowing Dwan to show apair of two's. Unfortunately for durrrr, Rivera had flopped a pair of threes.

Elezra Alive

Playing Omaha 8 Eli Elezra managed to pull out a chop to keep his hopes alive in this event.

The action started with a Sam Farha raise and a call from Michael DeMichele before Eli Elezra decided to come along for the ride. The 9♣ 7♦ 6♦ flop was checked around but Eli put all his chips in when the 7♣ turned.

Farha and DeMichele both called the $38k and when the the river fell the 2♥ Farha led out. DeMichele called but when Farha showed A♥ 3♠ J♠ K♠ for the low and Elezra flashed Q♠ Q♥ J♥ 9♦ for a pair of queens high, those two split the pot.

Farha Smoked (6th)

Sammy Farha's bracelet hopes are dead as he got into a Razz hand with James Mackey, Anthony Rivera and Eli Elezra and came up empty.

Farha started the hand with 4-5-6 but didn't make anything worth mentioning. Mackey and Elezra followed him all the way down to seventh with Eli making an eight low to win. Sammy will take home $85,728 for sixth.

Tom ‘durrrr" Dwan has gone from hero to just about zero in the first hour of this final table, but it's Jeff madsen who hit the rail first in eighth. Meanhwhile Eli Elezra is on the climb. Here's how it all went down in the mixed final table this last level:

Elezra Equalizes

Playing Pot-limit Omaha Eli Elezra managed to come out on the winning end of a pot with Tom Dwan. Durrrr led out for $21k and made the call when Elezra shoved in for his last $76,000.

It was A♣ 2♣ Q♠ K♠ for Eli against Tom's 9♥ 5♥ 3♠ 2♠ and while Durrrr flopped tow pair when the 7♦ 3♣ 2♥ came off the deck, the 5♠ turn and Q♥ river gave Eli a better pair of pairs.

A few hands later Eli turned the same trick again, counterfieting Dwan's two pair to double through him again. Eli's stack is now in the $300k range while Dwan dipped down to $150,000.

J-Mad Doubles; Gets Crippled; Busts (8th)

Playing 2-7 Triple Draw Jeff Madsen and Matt Glantz get into it with Madsen ending up all in before the draw.

The 2006 WSOP Player of the Year's 8-7-5-4-2 then held when Glantz drew an A holding 8-5-4-3 in the final draw. Madsen was then on $200k before they starting playing Limit Hold'em.

First Madsen got crippled by Tom Dwan going all the way to showdown and losing a fair sized pot to durrrr's flopped top pair. A shortstacked Madsen then headed out 8th (54,144) when he got it all in pre flop with 10♣ 9♣ and got the call from Sanny Farha and his A♠ 2♣. Sammy flopped a deuce and it held on the K♦ 6♥ 2♥ 5♦ 8♠ board.
