Event 8 - Rivera Wins! 1 year ago

And just as the the $2k is finishing on the main stage, the $10k mixed event has ended as well! The winner is Anthony Rivera who takes home $483,688 whilst runner-up James 'Mig.com' Mackey has to be content with second place and $297,792. Here's a recap of how it happened.

Mac Twists The Knife

Mackey had been the short stack, but got his double-up pushing with Tc 8d against Matt Glantz's Ah 6d catching two pair. This then left Glantz langusing in third, and he ended up all-in on a 7c 6d 3c board with 6c 5s against Mackey's Js 7s and couldn't complete the outdraw.

One Hand Turnover

This left Mackey heads-up with Anthony Rivera, the latter still retaining the chip lead. On the first hand, Mackey raised to 87k and Rivera made to 287k and Mackey moved all-in. Rivera did a double take and said, "What? You're all in? I call."

Rivera: As Kh

Mackey: Ac 9h

The board ran out Qs Qc 2s 4c 5h, and after a brief chip count, Anthony Rivera was declared the winner of the first ever mixed event!

Event 8 - Level 24 No Mix Jokes This Level 1 year ago

The three remaining players have returned to finish off with a flourish the 'jack of all trades' tournament that is the $10k Mixed Championship event. Anthony Rivera hold a dominant lead and it looks like the other two players will be vying for the right to play him heads up.

A Glantz-ing Blow

Matt Glantz has been hit with the worst of it so far in the O8, He check called the whole way down of a Js 7s 9s 5s 4s board against Anthony Rivera only to be shown As 2s 3c Qd for the nut-nut.

Mac the knife is back in town.

Return Of The Mac

Soon afterwards, Glantz loses another pot after he bets 40k on a Td 9c 9d flop. James Mackey, who had limp/called preflop from the small blind, calls this bet and then fires out 80k on the Kd turn after Matt Glantz checks. Glantz shakes his head and folds.

Ant Attack!

Matt Glantz loses even more of his chips again in the next hand, he raises preflop from the small blind and Anthony Rivera calls from the big. Matt bets the 6d 8d 7s flop Anthony calls, then raises him on the 2h turn. Glantz shakes his head yet again but calls the extra bet before check calling another one on the Ac river. Rivera shows 9c 3c 9h 5h for a nine-high straight and the second nut low. It's good for the scoop.

Glantz Re-Advance

Glantz raises from the button and James Mackey 3-bets from the big blind after Anthony gets out of the way. Mackey bets the Qd 4h 2s flop, Glantz calling with not too many chips behind, the turn is the Qc and now Glantz raises Mackey's bet. Mackey calls but then disgustedly mucks after Glantz bets the 2d river. Glantz overtakes 'mig.com' but both still trail Anthony Rivera.
