Event 52 - Three-Handed at the Final Table
1 year ago
We're down to the final three at this final table with the eliminations of Farzad Rouhani and Corwin Cole. Read on the for the details on those as well as the updated three-handed chip counts.
Players have just left for a one-hour dinner break.
Sitron Steamrolling
Scott Sitron has a stranglehold on this final table and has almost as much as both his opponents combined. We saw a hand a few moments ago that started as a three-way limped pot with Dan Heimiller on the button.
The flop came down A
A
2
and Sitron fired $225,000 from the small blind. David Daneshgar folded in the big blind and Heimiller called. The turn was the 5
and both remaining players checked. The river was the 6
and Sitron fired $500,000.
Heimiller made a bit of a pained call and turned over A
4
. Sitron’s A
7
had him out-kicked and he raked a hefty pot.
Rouhani Ravaged (Fourth)
Farzad Rouhani already won one bracelet this summer and made it within sight of another here tonight. He’s been eliminated in fourth position and will take $231,584. He was getting relatively short and moved all-in for a total of $515,000.
Scott Sitron made the call and tabled T
T
which had Rouhani’s A
9
crushed. A ten hit the flop and put Sitron even further ahead in the hand. The turn and river were devoid of any miracles for Rouhani and he’s forced to abandon his seat at this final table.
Cole Crushed (Fifth)
Corwin Cole enjoyed a big chip stack for much of this final table but, unfortunately for him, he’s now on his way out the door. The blinds are really becoming a factor and Cole open-shoved all-in for $870,000 from the cut-off and Scott Sitron made the call from the big blind.
A
8
for Sitron had Cole’s 8
9
dominated and when an ace hit the flop things went from bad to worse. The turn failed to improve Cole’s hand and he was drawing dead going to the river. Cole is out in fifth position and will take $189,311.

Event 52 - Sitron Takes Control
The action keep getting wilder at this final table. Every time we think a competitor is headed for the rail, he fights back from having his back against the wall to give himself a second - or sometimes third or fourth - chance at winning a bracelet.
Cole Catches!
Corwin Cole has been one of the most active players at the table today and he's keeping that reputation alive. Luckily for him, he's also hanging on to his tournament life when he's up against the wall.
Case in point: Farzad Rouhani opened to $155,000 from the cutoff, and Cole shipped it for a full $940,000. Rouhani took his time making the call, but eventually he did so and showed A
Q
. Cole turned up 5
5
for the coin flip situation. Things looked bad for Cole on the A
K
7
flop, but the 5
sent the crowd into heavy cheering. For his part, Cole sat in his seat completely stone-faced through the end of the hand.
The Name of the Game
Right now we’re seeing this table played out without many flops. Preflop re-raises are so large by now - generally somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000 or so - that it almost takes a stack commitment to make the call. Selective aggression is really the key at this point - not to mention good timing.
Sitron Surges
The chip has changed hands more than a dollar bill today. Our latest leader is Scott Sitron, who picked up a very nice pot a little while ago from Farzad Rouhani.
The action folded to Rouhani in the small blind, where he raised it up to $155,000. Sitron called in the big blind and the flop came down A
7
6
. Rouhani led out for $230,000 and Sitron called. The turn came the 5
, Rouhani checked, Sitron fired $350,000, and Rouhani called. The 3
on the river brought a check from Rouhani and a $1,300,000 all-in bet from Sitron. Rouhani gave the decision some consideration but eventually mucked his hand - only to have Sitron flash 10
9
for nothing more than a busted straight draw.
After that hand Rouhani was down to about $680,000, while Sitron claimed the biggest chip lead of the day at $2,800,000.

It's been an up and down day for Rouhani.
Flip Flop
After the big pot with Sitron, Farzad Rouhani managed to turn his situation right back around. David Daneshgar opened in the cutoff for $155,000, and Rouhani shoved from the big blind for another $495,000. Daneshgar took a while but eventually made the call with 7
5
. Rouhani flipped up A
K
, which was good until the flop came down Q
7
10
. The turn kept Daneshgar ahead with the 6
, but the river brought the K
to double Rouhani up to a little over $1,300,000.
