Event 50 - Marty Smyth Wins!
Bellowing Irish cheers have set the Amazon room alight. The atmosphere is electric with the well lubricated and enthusiastic Irish supporters enjoying the poker, but nothing prepared us for the massive roar as Marty picked up the first Irish bracelet of the series, as a result of this hand.
Party For Marty!
Heads Up Omaha can be an explosive game and today was no exception!
Both players took their hands to a flop of Q
T
9
and neither one wanted to back down as amazingly all the chips flew into the middle.
When the cards were revealed it became very apparent why!
Peter Jetten had flopped the nuts with K
J
3
2
for the King high nut straight!
However, he had run into a heck of a cooler, with Marty holding K
J
J
Q
which was also the nut straight but with an open ended straight flush re-draw!!!
The Irish contingent on the rail clinked whiskey glasses as they rooted on a club for the re-draw.
The turn came the 7
. Despite it being a blank, they all cheered nonetheless!
The river was ...the 6
!!!
His redraw had come in, meaning Peter Jetten is eliminated, OUT in 2nd place, winning $528,237 whilst Marty Smyth is the CHAMPION, taking home a massive $859,549, the gold bracelet and shortly after he finishes his pictures and interviews, he will no doubt be off with his crowds of rowdy but good-natured Irish supporters for the party to end all parties!
Join us shortly for winner pictures and the full pokerlistings.com interview but for now we raise our glasses to toast a magnificent performance from Marty Smyth.

Event 50 - Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Over the past hour of heads up we've had just one big confrontation. But it was big enough to give Marty Smyth the lead,
He made it $240,000 to go but Peter Jetten had some ideas of his own reraising it up to $720,000.
Smyth made a quick call and when the K
9
6
flop was revealed Jetten made it $1,440,000. After a few moments in the tank Smyth shoved with Q
J
10
7
for the wrap.
Jetten called with A
Q
10
4
but the 10
turn gave Smyth the straight and the 4
river ensured he would double up and grab the lead.
After the hand Jetten was down to $2.25 million and Smyth up to $5.3 million. They're right there as the players have gone off on a 20-minute break.
