Event 47 - Final Table - It's Ovah Baby!
The heads up battle between Ron Long and Ryan Hughes didn't last too long but a lot happened. Hughes started the battle with approximately a 4-1 to chip lead over Long, but it wasn't long before Long had overtaken the lead.
Hughes suddenly found himself behind but that didn't slow him down. Both players knew that aggression rules in poker and they both followed that mantra. After a few hands Hughes retook the lead and found himself back to square one with a 4-1 chip lead when the final hand went down.
Hughes brought it in with the 3
and Long called with the K
. Long caught a 7
and Hughes caught a K
on fourth and all hell broke loose. Long bet, hughes raised, Long reraised, Hughes came back over the top, and Long capped it! Long was all in on fifth street and Hughes called. The hands were flipped up.

Long was in the lead with his pair of kings against Hughes' sevens. Hughes made two pair on sixth when he caught 3
while Long didn't improve. It was all down to seventh street.

A hand for our second place finisher!
"Full house!" said Hughes as he turned up the 7
. Long was drawing dead and he turned over his useless Q
. Hughes had done it!
Last year Hughes won a bracelet in the $2,000 stud event and this year it was a $1,500 so it's not technically a back to back bracelet win, but Hughes got a little information from Nolan Dalla at the end that is probably worth more than the 'back to back' title.
Ryan Hughes is the only person ever, in the entire history of the World Series of Poker, to win two bracelets in Stud H/L! Hughes smiled when he was told that and just asked,"Really?"
Yes... Really! Strong work from Ryan Hughes, who says he never plays Stud H/L except for at the Series. Long took home $113,240 for his second place finish while Hughes takes home the lion's share of $182,997, a bracelet, a world record, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. More on the sandwich in the interview.

Event 47 - Final Table - Shot Down!
It didn't take more than a couple of minutes after the break to lose another player in the Stud H/L. Ryan Hughes, who won this is exact same event last year, goes into the heads up match with a definitive chip lead with about $1.3 million to Ron Long's $315,000.
Hunt No Longer In It
Thomas Hunt didn't even have enough time to finish half of his meatball parmesan sandwich when he got all in against Ryan Long. Hughes was very short and they got it all in on third street. Hughes held 3-4-3 and hund 5-3-2.
By sixth street it was 5

for Hughes. The dealer dealt the seventh street card face down and Hughes politely turned his over first - the 8
for just a pair of threes.
Hunt had tons of outs to scoop or chop. He rubbed the card against the felt before flipping it up the Q
. Hughes scooped the pot with just a pair of threes. Hunt collected his belongings and his sandwich and headed off to collect his $68,686.
