Event 45 - Who Let the E-Dog Out?
We’re still three-handed on the ESPN set. It looked earlier like Erick Lindgren might be down and out, but a big rush has helped him get back into the mix.
Lindgren Likes the Texas Hold Them…
Some of Erick Lindgren’s best results throughout his career have come in limit hold’em, so it comes as no surprise that the limit hold’em portion of the rotation is where he’s begun to make his comeback. He took the first four hold’em hands, dropped the next one to Michael DeMichele, and then took the last three hands of the round.
The biggest of those pots came in a blind-versus-blind confrontation at the expense of Scotty Nguyen. Lindgren’s A

board, trumping Nguyen’s A-J and claiming a big pile of chips.
That big rush has Lindgren right back in the middle of things, to the delight of his crowd of supporters behind him in the stands.
…And Nguyen Likes the Omaha...
Scotty Nguyen didn’t do so well in the last round of hold’em, but the Omaha-8 hands have been a lot better to him. He scooped both of the first two pots, taking one from Lindgren and one from Michael DeMichele. That was good news for Nguyen, who needed to put the brakes on his skid before finding himself in the danger zone.
...But DeMichele Just Likes HORSE
Despite the jockeying for position between Lindgren and Nguyen, our chip leader is still Michael DeMichele. He's actually widened the gap a bit while his opponents beat up on each other, now sitting on just more than double the stack of Erick Lindgren.

Event 45 - The Song Remains the Same

Things haven’t changed that much since the last update, despite a full hour of poker being played. Scotty Nguyen has managed to pull a little closer to Michael DeMichele, while Erick Lindgren continues to look for a spot to pick up a healthy pot and get back into the mix. He’ll need some help soon, as the level has just gone up and he only has about 6 or 7 big bets left in his stack.
The Scotty Nguyen Fan Club
Todd Brunson is hanging out in the stands directly behind Scotty Nguyen, sitting beside Nguyen’s wife Julie and cheering him on every time he wins a pot. Brunson is even sporting a homemade t-shirt reading “GO SCOTTY BABY!” in black magic marker.
As for Scotty, he’s still drinking beer at the table. We’re not sure exactly what brand it is, but we can say it’s not the Beast - after all, if it were the official beer of the WSOP, its label wouldn’t be obscured by electrical tape.
I Went to the Bar and a $50K World Championship Broke Out
The only problem with beer at the final table seems to be that it isn’t coming around fast enough for Scotty Nguyen. After dropping two big hold’em pots to Michael DeMichele, Scotty started yelling at the tournament director. We didn’t catch the first part of his rant, but it ended with “I have to wait an hour every f***ing time!”
Luckily for everyone involved, WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack stepped in and grabbed two beers from the bar outside. Then Layne Flack played waiter, delivering the beers to Scotty as the crowd applauded. A hand or two later, Nguyen was back to his usual jolly self, winning pots and laughing.
